Frogg Toggs - Are they significantly better than their generic alternative? I am okay with paying more if it will pay off in the quality of the product. So, if you have experience with these, please share your opinion. Thanks!

Not sure about quality of both but I did pick up some towels at the dollar tree yesterday.

I'm curious too. I just bought one at CVS over the weekend. I think it cost about $5. It's for my son. He's very bothered by the heat. He used it twice so far and likes it. I was afraid of it falling off, but that has not happened.

Wallmart sell the original Frogg Togg for $12...its big so you can cut it in half FYI.

hate to say this but...I live in Houston where the summers are similar to Florida summers..high humidity equals no evaporation which in turn equals not working. So, if you live in hot dry place it may work. If you live in a hot humid place it just becomes another hot wet heavy rag wrapped around you and weighing you down..I personally wouldnt waste your money.

Have to say I HIGHLY recommend the Frogg Toggs not some generic and I'll share a story with you. Several years ago a friend of mine who is a FL state trooper originally told me about Frogg Toggs. I was skeptical but having an outside job at the time I thought I would try it. It definitely helps your body temp cool down. You'd be surprised how many CMs ( especially at bag check ) are discreetly wearing them under their shirts. Anyway our oldest dog is 15. Last year the A/C went out and it was out for days. I took one of those Frogg Toggs wet it and laid it on her chest. Her core temp came down and I will believe for the rest of my life that she would have either passed away or suffered a stroke if not for this product.
Priceless.

We used Frogg Toggs last August and they definitely helped.

Just put one in my Amazon shopping cart. I'm going to give it a try. Can't hurt. Thanks so much for the tip! I have never heard about it before. Any tips for a good spray fan?

Can't help you with the fan but just some advice. Store your Frogg Toggs in the original container it comes in. I've heard people complain of mildew smells and then you find out they are storing them in Zip-lock bags or some other container. I've had one for a few years now and never experienced that. You can also cut it lengthwise and get two for the price of one. One other thing :welcome: to the Dis :-)

I used them before and loved them. My kids and DH did not like them as much. I disagree with the above poster... when you sweat it helps to keep the towels cool and least that is what I felt.

I started to say " Huh ? what did I say about sweat ? " then I realized you are talking about someone further upthread
 I think I need to walk away and pour more coffee it's too early for me

Thank you all!

I wish I could find a good spray fan. The ones you buy at disney are actually pretty good (espcially with little fingers) but are pricey. They ones in the store seem like they would be dangerous for my kids little fingers (they are the primary users of the fans). If you find a good one, plese share!

We live in Central Texas and the heat can be brutal in the summer. When the AC went out at work my wife told me to take her Frogg Togg. It worked great!! The guys I work with get to work in a shop while I'm in an office with no airflow that's 90 degrees. Of course my wife bought a pink one and there I was sitting with a pink towel around my neck. After a few hours I told them they can laugh all they want this thing works great! They laughed. Thankfully my wife picked me up a different color for me lol. We now take them on every WDW trip!

How did you pack your Frogg Toggs for travel? I washed them ahead of time and line dried them. Now they're stiff of course so do I just wet them before we leave and put them back in the container? Concerned about mildew if they stay wet too long.

Love frog toggs. Aug is brutal in FL and they worked great at keeping us cool. We packed them dry and wet them when we needed them. Put them on the ac vent in the room for extra cooling.

These work shockingly well - at least for a while. http://smile.amazon.com/O2-Cool-Car...id=1432251979&sr=8-2&keywords=o2+cool+misting. I just picked a couple more up at Wal-Mart for $4.xx each to replace a couple we've lost/that have died. They do die eventually - but for that price I'm ok with it. They're great to clip on to a belt loop/park bag, and make a shocking difference in my comfort level. One tip - if you think it's 'dead' try starting the 'propellor' with your finger. That's often all it takes to keep it running well.

We used those exact ones last year and it really did help. I liked that they were tiny and no bother to carry around all day!

Thank you all!

You can get nice ones at Walmart (large & small). They are 'not' dangerous for little kids - the blades are made of soft rubber type material.
