I was a fan of the X-Files and Lost, and I'm considering taking advantage of a deal on the first 2 seasons of Fringe on DVD. So - should I or shouldn't I?

DH, DS23, and I LOVE Fringe, and I know a lot of other people who are fans, too. Fringe just got renewed for Season 4, so it'll be back in the fall! :thumbsup2

We love Fringe....it started out different than how it is now but it has been really good since the beginning and look forward to it every week. so do my kids. We also were x-files and LOST fans...Fringe is the same kind of strangeness. I say go for it. You will get hooked. :thumbsup2

But why? I'm looking for someone to "sell" me on it.

Mainly, its beause of the characters and the actors who portray them. After you watch the very first episode I think you'll be hooked. Especially if you liked Lost and X-Files.

Also the stories themselves are very intriguing... makes you want to keep watching.

I was also a big fan of X-files, Lost, and a bunch of other Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows. I thought Fringe was a bit slow to start off, but I am so glad that I kept watching. I'm loving it. This season is fantastic. The chemistry of all the characters is what keeps me watching. It is very well written. Funny at times, very serious at others and sometimes it has you going WTH? in a good way though.

Are you opposed to watching shows out of sequence? If not you can see some episodes on Hulu, but they are from Season 3.

Why?

Seriously, GREAT cast. GREAT chemistry. GREAT action and plots. Just GREAT everything. The best character really is Walter.

:thumbsup2

Seriously, though -- like everyone else has said, it is very smart and well-written (a rarity on TV these days). My boyfriend and I are just finishing Season 1 (thanks to Netflix) and we love it! Stories are intriguing, characters are very likable (and often very funny), cinematography is fantastic... I really can't say enough good things. We were both huge X-Files fans, too, and Fringe ranks right up there with it for us.

It's a great show, and it's been renewed for another season, so you'll have two more seasons to look forward to after the first two.

I watch and then don't watch. Love the concept for sure. Certainly fresh and plays on some scientific theories.

I am sort of waiting till it comes to Netflix streaming so I can go and watch them back to back instantly. It conflicts with other shows I watch and I get bored with TV shows.

So what is the sale?

I loved both X-Files and Lost, and for me Fringe is miles better than those two shows. I think it's the best series on television right now.

The actors are fantastic, John Noble deserves an Emmy for his portrayal of Walter. And of course who can forget Josh Jackson, he was my favorite on Dawson's Creek and has become and extremely good looking man. I also think JJ is one of the most under rated actors out there.

I guess I need to watch LOST. I have not even seen 1 episode.

It is on instant streaming on Netflix, I will go and add it. All the seasons are streaming so I can watch them back to back.:thumbsup2

OMG, I am so jealous that you get to watch the entire series for the first time. I wish I could go back in time to do that. I discovered it one summer after the fourth season and was hooked.

I found Fringe online on the WB channel. I was wondering if I should go ahead and watch it too, but after hearing these reviews I'm going to do it!

Well, I hope it is as good as everyone says it is. :thumbsup2

We love Fringe too!! A great show, very differnt from anything out there. It is funny, dramatic, romantic, scientific, action-packed. Really a bit of everything. I love Walter and Astrid.

Each of the first 2 seasons is $25 on Blu-ray.

Yea JJ does make for some great eye candy, but OMG the chemistry of the cast. And not just a couple of the characters - all of them mesh together so well. But our family would have to agree that Walter makes the show.

Do you mean Asprin? :rotfl2:
