Frightening! What is D Day??

Last night a local station did a piece on this. They went to the beach and started interviewing teenagers. While I realize this is not a scientific study, the responses were alarming. Among the things they didn't have a clue about were D Day, who the Soviets are, who were Stalin, Mao Zedong, De Gaulle and so on.

We are preparing the kids to take tests but not to take part in the real world.

There was so much ado about Tuesday being 06/06/06 and I saw almost nothing about the D Day invasion. Pretty sad.
