Be careful of this airline promotion, it may not be what you expect. It sure wasn't what I thought it would be.
I'll start by saying that, with this promotion, this company does have very good rates that beat all competitors by about 20%.
"So what's this guy's problem now", you ask? Well since you did, I'll tell you.
20%
Does that sound like a "Free" companion ticket? Not to me it doesn't.
Here's how it works. They charge the "fareholder" the price of their most expensive ticket, the ones with no restrictions that are fully refundable.
"Well what's wrong with that?", you ask now? You are such good kids, so I'll tell you.
The tickets that you get in this promotion are NOT fully refundable with no restrictions. They have the same basic set of rules as their cheapest discount airfare, but at a noticably higher cost. Thus, with this "Friends Fly Free" promotion, I would be getting two $160 tickets (a $320 value), for the cost of one $260 ticket (a $260 value). Net savings = $60. Not $160. Not $260. Most certainly NOT a free companion ticket.
Again, I repeat, this is still a good deal compared to the discount fares from other airlines. But, it is in no way "Free", and is so deceptive that I've decided to pay the extra $120 to fly another airline with our family of four, rather than give our business to this company.
P.S. The reason I'm posting this here is the fact that this particular airline is based out West, and is a common choice for folks that visit Disneyland.
