Friends/Family updates by email/text?

I thought I read somewhere (of course, I can't remember now) that you can sign up your friends & family to receive updates by email or phone text messages on how you're doing during the marathon - like when you pass certain points along the course. Anyone know where I can find this info or at least know what I'm talking about? Thanks!!!

Oh sure, did this last year and it worked like a charm.

As they get closer to the marathon weekend, the official website will have instructions on how to sign folks up. My support team back home loved getting the updates.

Just a warning. WOrked great for teh full, but was spotty for the half. So, give them what you estimate your pace would be and let them know not to worry if the update does not come through.

I'm so glad someone asked about this! I saw it mentioned on the website (or was it in the packet??) and thought it was just for the Full. What greate news to see it's for the Half, too (albeit spotty).

Thanks so much! My mom, dad, brother, and husband will all be there to see me cross the finish line, but I know they will want updates along the way. I have some people who will be cheering me on from home as well, so this is good to know!

If the updates are not working, there will eb a websdite where the people at home can track you with too! They'll find that from the place where they sign up too.

Oh this is great -- I remember hearing something about it when I first signed up, I will have to keep my eyes open and make sure to let friends and family know
