Friends and Family Resort Discount

I sure hope someone can help. My daughter is going back to DW this summer for the Summer Alumni program. We are planning a visit in mid-June. If I wait to make the reservation until she begins the program in mid-May, I'm afraid that I won't be able to get the entire week I want at the resort we want...it's only a month apart. Does anyone know if I make the reservation now, when she goes to Disney can she call reservations and add her family discount to it. Or do we have to take our chances and wait until she begins the program to make the reservation and receive the discount. I appreciate your help.
