Friends and Family discount question

A CM friend booked 2 rooms for us at WL in Feb 2014 (40% off). In the fine print on the confirmation it says "for the cast member discount rate, the CM must be staying in the room to be eligible for the discount. The CM must provide a company ID or main entrance pass to the front desk within 10 days prior to the arrival of their guests to receive discount."
I'm not trying to pull a fast one on anyone, she is not staying with us--I thought that is why it is a "friends and family" discount. I cannot afford to pay rack rate for these rooms so need to make sure this is not really required. Does anyone have experience/and or knowledge with this?

Jenny, that is for the cast member only discount. It is just stating the discount for both. You will be fine. I would clarify with your friend what they booked just in case. Generally not many people on here know the answer because they do not realize we (CM) get discounts and our discounts are different than everyone else's.

We have had friends book a f&f discount for us quite a few times (one being this upcoming December). The CM did not stay with us, but they did have to "check us in" up to 10 days prior to get the 40% discount.

I would just clarify with your friend to be safe!

another question for those of you who are familiar with the friends and family discount...our CM friend called to try to add the dining plan for us (I have read that it is a 10% discount) and they told her there was no availability? This is for the 1st week in Feb--is that possible? Is it not always available or does she need to try again closer to the date? I hate to keep bugging her!

CM only has to stay in the room for the CM discount (50% and at times 60% off). For the Friends & Family 40% discount, the CM does not need to be present/stay in the room. I would have your friend check closer to your stay date for dining discounts, January at earliest.

Discounts for dining don't generally come out to much closer to travel time. This year they did allow for a full priced DP to be added to the 40% F&F reservations. I don't know if they'll do that again for 2014 or only allow discounted DDPs to be added closer to travel if released. I'd just check back towards the end of the year or even January.

another question for people who have used the F&F discount...our CM friend gave us a confirmation # when she booked our reservation. Can I make any changes to it or does she have to do it? I'm talking like adding magical express. Also, how do I add park hopper tickets? Is it best to get them from somewhere like Undercover Tourist? Sorry for all of the questions--I've always done packages before and never had a F&F discount!

I have booked numerous f&f rooms. Once the confirmation # is given you can make adjustments/payments etc. Just call reservations. The only thing I was responsible for after I made the initial reso was faxing my Id to the actual resort at least 10 days prior. I typed a fax sheet and listed the confirmation # and all guests listed on the reso. I also called and made sure they received it and that it showed up under the confirmation #...but that's because I am ocd about stuff like that!
