Fried Seafood? WDW? Central Florida? Unbelievable!

Fried flounder, shrimp, scallops... they're everywhere but none at WDW??? I can't seem to find anything fried seafood-wise other than the occasional shrimp appetizer at one or two restaurants. Unbelievable (to me, at least).

Shades of Greens seems to have a lot but we can't get in. Red Lobster is WAY up I-4 at International if I remember correctly.

Maybe I should go down there and open a BBQ and Seafood restaurant (I worked at Parker's BBQ in Wilson for 7 years in high school and college). I bet I could get rich. :rotfl2:

Seriously, I find this hard to believe as popular as fried seafood is in America. Have I missed something obvious?

Thanks.

Probably cause it's not heathy, unless they can put it on a wheat bun.
but seriously they do have that fish and chip place at Epcot. I would think there's more. Ragland Road has a counter service with fried fish. (and candy bars)

The fried platter at Fulton's is VERY good....it has scallops, shrimp and cod as well as a fried onion loaf....like really thin onion rings. This was sooooo yummy. It is served with sauces made on site cocktail and tartar. Love it.

Well a few members of the podcast crew recommended Dixie Crossroads. It is a hike from Disney in Titisville but was by far the best seafood I have ever had.:woohoo:

I'll be right behind you with the sweet tea. :thumbsup2

I grew up in Wilson; I wonder how many times our paths have crossed? (even though we ate at Bill's more than Parker's)

Actually, there's a Red Lobster right in the Crossroads Shopping Plaza. Now, I'm craving clam strips!!! :thumbsup2

The Mara, the CS at the Animal Kingdom Lodge has a fried shrimp platter. It gets good reviews for quality and quantity, ie. value.

I really don't know why not. Perhaps it IS that "healthy cooking"" business?
A Fried Seafood Platter would be a welcome addition to WDW restaurants.

Thanks for the info folks. It just seems totally illogical to me that you can't get fried flounder/trout and fried shrimp in central FL. LOL

I'll investigate some of the options above.

Thanks!

Dixie Crossroads is great, but having lived very close to it for a few years, I'd say there's NO way in you know I would drive there from WDW!

There is another Dixie Crossroads by the Bass Pro Shop off I Drive.. still a little trec but not as far.. I heard it's not as good as the original ( I'm local so I still go to the original) but if you have the mode to travel a piece there ya go...much better than Red Flobster...IMHO...

Well if you did that my DH and I would definitely be your customers....When I was growing up my parents and I would stop at Parkers on the way to my Grandmother's in Beulaville(Duplin County) and get barbecue, cole slaw and corn sticks(?)....I even took my DH there for a same day road trip early in our marriage.....We love NC Eastern BBQ.

The Orlando Ale House on 535 (go out Hotel Plaza Blvd. and make a left. It's on the left at the first light) has a wide assortment of fried seafood. You'll need a car - or a cab - but the food is good and the prices are right.

You might not want a chain, but Joe's Crab shack is not too far from Crossroads.

Bob - you open an Eastern Carolina bbq joint and I'll be there.

Healthy options are a good thing. But when I am on vacation in disneyworld I like to splurge just a little. I love fried seafood. I wish someone would include it on a menu. I really looked foreward to Alaskan king crab legs on the last visit. They were great. I was prepared to get a reservation at the coral reef again this year for crab legs but they are not listed on the menu:confused3 I guess I will have to settle for a garden salad and tofu:confused: Those seven days I spend at Disneyworld are a real difference maker in my overall health:laughing:
