Fried Bologna Sandwich

On Wonder bread. It was one of my favorite foods growing up.

I feel so redneck when I eat them...but I love them too. It's the only way I will eat bologna at all. I was surprised when I was pregnant with my daughter (and had a sudden fierce craving for one and had to go buy bologna) that my husband shared this little food secret. He was all sad and insulted that I hadn't made one for him, and I hadn't because I didn't think he'd touch it with a ten foot pole. :lmao:

OK I'm intrigued. I've never heard of this but DH just brought home some bologna (first time in ten years). Do you fry the bologna and then sandwich it or is it like a grilled cheese with bologna instead of cheese? How do you make one of these?

Cut the bologna slices about 3/4 of an inch in from the edges so it does curl too much when you fry it. Let it get nice a brown with some darker color on the edges. Put it on white bread with mustard. That's it.

I just want to say, when someone started a thread like this a couple of years ago, I went out and bought bologna and white bread and made one....or two. ;) . I am NOT going to get suckered into doing it again this time. They are like potato chips. You can't eat just one! :rotfl2:

I do it pretty much the same except I do one long slice from the center out and then fry it. When I'm done cooking it, it ends up looking like Pacman. :lmao:

Oh, I haven't had a fried bologna sandwich in years. When the hubby and I got married he fixed them all the time and I thought that was just the grossest thing ever, until I tried them:thumbsup2 Make not to self: add bologna to grocery list

DH was who introduced me to them also. I had never had bologna in my life. I had been raised on prk roll but not bologna. That was so yummy. I wish I had some bolonga right now. I may buy some for when we're at VB!

I love Fried Bologna! :lovestruc Add mayo and a tomato, with chips! OH MAN!

Well, now I know what I will be trying for lunch today!:thumbsup2

My DS was about 12 when he spent the night at a friends and they made bologna sandwiches... He couldn't understand why they were eating it RAW :scared:

We eat fried bologna sandwiches pretty often but only with Miracle Whip :thumbsup2 We are goingto Las Vegas next week and I told DH we HAVE to eat at Toby Keith's they have fried bologna sandwiches with Miracle Whip on the menu:goodvibes

Go to your deli and get the bologna sliced thick. Some will understand if you say thick for frying. My favorite bologna is Wunderbar. Amazing flavor. Get it sliced thick. No need to slice it, it won't curl if it is cut thick. We eat our with mayo, onions, pickles, and provolone or white american cheese.

Yum!!!!

Never been a fan of the bologna. In elementary school they used to serve "fried bologna cups" which was just fried bologna with the grease in the cup it made when it fried. I'm not a real picky eater, but that is disgusting.
