Hello All,

I will be sailing with my 3 sisters (one of which is a diabetic) next April on the Wonder. DCL is giving us a fridge in our stateroom for her insulin. My question is this....will this fridge be large enough to hold a half gallon pitcher?? She also can't drink pop and we thought we'd bring some crystal light along for her.

Thanks.

When we sailed last, I thought there was a chance that I might be on insulin but I ended up not being on it. At the time, they told me not only about the fridge, but they also told me that they had the little "safe" needle disposal tubs that you could get for your room. I don't know if they still have them, or if your sister has requested one, but I'd imagine it would come in handy!

Good luck! Hopefully someone else will answer the question about the fridge. Since I was off the insulin, I ended up not needing one!

Thanks...we were told about the disposal box too

Glad to hear you're not on insulin!!!:p

There is a fridge in the room, but it may not be cold enough for medication. You can request an actual little fridge for medical purposes and it will be in your room waiting for you when you arrive. You need to call DCL directly.

I requested a real refrigerator for our May 15 Magic cruise. When we arrived in our cabin, I noticed that there was no refrigerator, but there was a 'Sharps' container for needles and lancets. After numerous calls and visits to Guest Services, I was informed that there wasn't any refrigerators available and that DCL had no record of my request. I was informed that I could keep my insulin in a refrigerator at Guest Services. Maybe I'm just overprotective, but I wasn't thrilled with the idea of keeping my medicine that I inject 2-3 times per day out of my control.

I argued that I had faxed in all the necessary documents (filled out by my Dr.) and that DCL must have received them or they wouldn't have placed a 'Sharps' container in my cabin. After more discussion with Guest Services, a refrigerator was finally delivered to my cabin around 7:30pm.

The next day, Guest Services sent a small gift to our cabin as a token of apology for the refrigerator mixup. A note was enclosed apologizing for problems and that my medical documents/request had been found. You'll never guess what they sent....a tray of petit-fours and chocolate-covered strawberries. The perfect gift for an insulin-dependent diabetic!

The standard medication fridge is quite small, and will not hold a 1/2 gallon drink pitcher. Your room comes with a "beverage cooler" which is like a fridge, just not as cold.

You can get Crystal lite in individual bottles, which will fit in the beverage cooler. (get at the store, not on board). If you take the shelf out of the beverage cooler, you can put a pitcher in there.

If it were me, I'd just bring the little packets of Crystal lite, and mix up individual glasses using the ice water on deck 9.
