I'm going on the Jan 8th eastern cruise. My dd 7 months was diagnosed today with an infection which is being treated with antibiotic amoxicillan. She should be feeling better way before the cruise but she needs to take it for 10 days. I need to figure it out but I think she needs it the first 24 hours of the cruise. Has anyone used the cooler in the room for medication. I know I can ask my dr to fill out a medical form for a fridge but since it is only really needed for one day I was hoping the cooler would work.

the cooler in the room will be fine. If you feel that you may need it colder, just get some ice from your room steward. :cool1:

Do you have one of the collapsible coolers? We bought one for about $8 before our cruise and our stateroom host kept it filled with ice. This was heaven for me since I like a really cold coke in the morning and I kept them on ice in the room so they were really cold. This would work for the meds also. Put the bottle in a Ziploc bag and stick it down in the ice and it will keep fine.

The cooler in the room will probably be fine but you could take a gallon ziploc and put some ice and the medicine in it for a little insurance if you don't have the collapsible cooler.

there is a beverage cooler in the room, but it does not get anywhere near as cold as a fridge. I would not trust it to keep perishables, or things that should be refridgerated for long periods of time. Basically it chills beverages...

I was told by Disney that if I had medication I needed refridgerated that they would put a real fridge in the room for that, the cooler is not cold enough to keep medicines in.

My wife is a diabetic. She needs her insulin refrigerated.

DCL faxed me a form to have filled out by her doctor, which stated the reason for her needing a fridge, we faxed it back, and our needs were taken care of.

You might want to call DCL and ask for such a form.

I too am diabetic and needed a fridge. I filled out those forms and when we boarded there was a Sharps container and dorm sized fridge waiting for me. I was very pleased.

I never heard of them supplying the sharp's container before. I wonder if they supply that once you have the doctor fill out the medical form. That would be great if they would do that so I wouldn't have to drag a container down. Thanks for the info!!

They supplied us with a Sharps container too. We had FAXed the medical form a couple of months in advance of our cruise and it was in our stateroom when we arrived.

We didn't have an extra fridge, but we felt that the beverage cooler kept DH's medication cool enough so we didn't ask for one. Since we had 4 of us in the cabin, I'm glad we didn't have it taking up room. When we cruise in 2006, DSs will have their own cabin which will leave us with a lot more room, so we may ask for the fridge then.
