OK,

yep i know u can rent one when you get there, we had some friends who stayed last year and they didnt have to pay for a fridge as they said it was for there DD meds, just wondered if anybody on here had come across that ?

cheers :thumbsup2

There is no harm in asking esp as the reason for it is a very good one.

I beleive it is only in the moderates and up that a fridge comes as standard but I may well be wrong

i think to hire a fridge it is $10 a night it would pay you to buy one at wal mart.

i would call them maybe a week to 2 weeks before you go , they should then have your reservation on thier system and you may be able to sort it out then

For medication you can indeed get one for free, not sure what proof is needed though.. Hopefully just the medication itself.

We needed a fridge for Eve's milk but I took a polystyrene cool box and filled it up everyday with ice.....:thumbsup2

I'd originally tried a 'fridge swap' but it fell through :sad2:

We've signed up for one of the POP fridge swaps on the budget boards - worst case I've lost a few pounds if it falls through, best case we have a fridge for two weeks that cost us MUCH less than hiring one from Disney.

Your best bet, if you need a fridge for medical reasons is to actually ring them now and tell them, as they only have a set number of fridges to go around.

Are you booked through a travel agent or Disney direct? As it makes a difference as to whether they will talk directly to you.

If it is through Disney you can ring them, and they should speak to, or put you through to the special reservations team, who handle all the medical requirements. It will make sure that it is definately sorted out, rather than just put down as a request, which can be ignored if they run out of fridges at the time you are there.

I need one in my room, and when we went last time I made sure that they knew well in advance and it was in the room when we checked in. I have one booked for our trip in October already.

They don't need any proof, as the ADA means they cannot ask for details or proof if you say you have medical needs. They may ask in case it makes a difference to the size of fridge needed, as they seem to have very small ones and also the normal under the counter type size, but if you say it is just for holding medication, they won't ask anything else.

Hope this helps.

Yep cheers for that,

We booked direct with DW UK website, what is the best number to call then ?

:thumbsup2

The number for Disney UK is 0870 24 24 900.

They should be able to speak to the Special Requests department whilst they put you on hold, and make sure they do, rather than just saying they will sort it out later, as mostly it will just be put down as a request, rather than a "special need". It should be down as something like - fridge for medical reasons, on any paperwork or online booking information, and you should be able to see that it has been done at some point before you check in.

If you are happy that they have done everything and it is sorted out perfectly as a need rather than a request, skip the next lot of information, but as someone who had to go to hell and back last holiday to get medical needs sorted, instead of just classed as requests, then it is better to have the information and not need it, than need it and not have it, if you see what I mean?

If they don't, the number for special requests is 407 939 7807, and that is a US number.

If you want to make certain that it will be sorted ring the special requests people anyway, after you have spoken to Disney, and ask if it has been noted on your reservation as a special need, not a request.

They might be a bit funny at first about you ringing them direct, some of them are fabulous, but some are just going through the motions, like in any job, but just explain that you have spoken to Disney UK and as it is so important for your wife to have the fridge for medical reasons, you wanted to make sure everything would be ok when you got there, especially as no-one gave you any of this information to start with!

Hope this helps.
