I did a search, but could not find the exact info I am looking for.

Does the fridge in the studio have a freezer that actually works? Trying to decide what to order from GG.

Also, is it realistic to do a load of laundry half way through our trip? We're in a studio, so no machines en suite. Is the laundry easily accessible? We will most likely be on the north side. Last time we stayed at the Poly and I thought I might do some laundry, but never felt like walking to the other building with our dirty clothes. I thought maybe because it's right in the building, it may be easier. With this being such a tough time a year for changeable weather, I'm finding it difficult to pack for 5 of us. I can't stand bringing a lot of luggage.

Thank you!

The studio fridges are dorm-sized, and the freezer compartment is tiny. Just about enough room for an ice cube tray or two...or a Mickey bar or two. :) I don't think you'll be able to fit much in the way of groceries in there.

I've had some fridges that worked well, and some that could barely keep a bottle of water cool.

As mentioned the freezer section is small. We've never stayed in a BLT studio, but have in all other studios. The freezer generally will hold a couple of bottles of water (I like to freeze mine so they stay cold during the day) and we can generally get a box of breakfast sandwiches (4 pack) in it, but only if we take them out of the box.

The laundry is on the ground floor.

Thank you. Are there plates or silverware? How about dish soap?
Also, what kind of coffee maker? Do they provide the coffee?
Thanks again.

Studios will have paper plates and bowls, and plastic utensils. I think there are paper cups, but I can't remember for sure.

There's dish soap, and coffee will be provided.

If you're staying on a cash reservation, all of these things can be replenished daily by your housekeeper. If you're staying on points (your own, or rented from a member), they will only be replenished on your housekeeping day.

Thank you. We are staying on our points. Can we ask for more coffee, plates etc if needed even if its not our housekeeping day?

They will charge you for more coffee (there's a price list)--so bring your own -- you will also need sugar and creamer if you need it. They give you a starter pack of coffee and the condiments, but they don't go far. We often bring a can of the pod type maxwell house coffee. They are easy to travel with.

As for the paper items, yes, you can ask for those things to be replenished. You can call housekeeping or like us, you can catch up with a housekeeper in the hall.

Since you get plastic folks/spoons/knives, we always bring a small knife and cutting board (in our checked bags of course) -- you just can't cut those limes with a plastic knife! There is dish soap, but you don't really have anything to wash except mugs and glasses. You do get a manuel canopenner and corkscrew. That's about it. We usually throw a few zip lock bags, bag clips, and a couple of plastic bowls in our bags. The little paper bowls are tiny.

Forgot--we pack those purex laundry sheets for the laundry. While not what I use at home, they do the job and are easy to travel with, and you luggage smells good.

Did I read it correctly? You're doing five in a studio?? You may want to rethink that. The BLT studio is the smallest of all the DVC studios. Even with small children, you are going to be very cramped.

Oh, my, yes. I missed the 'five in a studio'. Really, really tight.

IMO, the DVC studios were designed for singles or couples. Especially the BLT studios. You've got one bed and a sofabed. Not much room for sitting during the day, and certainly tough for naps. When the sofabed is open, there's no room to walk around at all.

Remember, the room occupancy limits are....well, limits. They represent the maximum number of people you can legally pack into a room and not violate the fire code. Just because Disney will allow you to put 4 + 1 child under 3 in a room does not mean it will be comfortable.

Thanks to all for your advice, but this is a done deal. There are no 1 BRs available, we are leaving in 3 days and we'll be fine.

Does anyone know if we can call housekeeping to have paper products and coffee refilled if we run out? Thanks.

Please come back after your trip and post about how 5 in a studio worked out for you! I am planning on staying in a BLT studio in Aug with 4 (myself & DH & our 2 kids ages 14 & 9) and everyone keeps saying we will hate it and be cramped. While it's making me nervous I'm still going to do it because we plan on being in the parks a lot and enjoying the whole resort not really spending a lot of time in the room. Also, it's just too many points for the 1 bedroom and we wanted to have a longer stay.

Hope you don't mind me asking but how did you even book 5 in a studio, unless the 5th person is under 3?:confused3

Stayed in studio at BLT with my ex husband and kids a couple yrs ago, it was a small , but the 1bedroom was beautiful, 2bathrooms, full kitchen, jacuzzi tub loved it!

I answered that question a couple of posts up!

So sorry, I didn't even see it! Thanks for the great info.

We were able to book 5 because our youngest is only 2.

I did so because we just had our first family trip in Nov at the Poly and had no plans of coming again so soon, but dh signed up for DVC with BLT as home resort, so I really wanted to go down and check it out. This trip is really a "bonus" so I figured we should do it as economically as possible. This will be our last visit that we can get a studio for all 5 of us. Of course now I wish would have just gone for the 1BR, but it's too late for that.

My other kids are only 4 and 7, so it may be a different experience than with a 9 and 14 year old, but I'll definitely check back in to let you know. I can say that when we vacation at the beach we stay in a regular hotel room with 2 beds and no sofa without a problem.

Heck, if I had to squeeze a family of 4 + infant into a studio vs no trip at all, I'd be right there. Your kids are little, so you should be fine. Yes, I hear the the studio at BLT is very small, but once you close up the sofa during the day, you'll be fine. My DH and I get a studio for ourselves all the time, but once the adult DD and the 2 granddaughters (6 & 4) come along, we try to rent a 1 bedroom at BLT as that extra bathroom is great. Have a great trip, but check that weather, it's been all over the place. We leave next Wednesday and one day it looks great, then the next day it goes downhill. Remember to pack those warm items to include hats and gloves. You will need them in the evenings.

If you need extra paper products (plates, paper towels, toilet paper), just ask for them. But if you want extra coffee, you'll have to purchase it.
