I am full of questions since this is my first trip to Universal!! I thought I saw on another post that you can pay a one time fee of 25.00 to have the minibar emptied and use it as a fridge! Has anyone ever done this at the Royal Pacific?

We have plans to eat our breakfast in our room and I really don't want to have to worry about refilling a cooler with ice everyday! I know (how lazy!) it's not a big deal, but I'm thinking that it'll be one less thing to worry about on vacation!

Thanks in advance! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I've stayed at HRH and asked this same question. I was told the mini bar is not refrigerated -- and it's not. You can feel there's no cold air when you stick your hand in it. I think the $25 is if you want them to put a mini fridge in your room.

I hear you about the cooler. Can be a PITA, for sure, having to refill every day with ice.

Last September, I was able to find breakfast foods at my local market that didn't have to stay cold. Laughing Cow cheese wedges don't have to be refrigerated and taste great on a Triscuit, which are now 100 percent whole grain! We brought some Luna bars, too. Apples and bananas don't need to be refrigerated. You can bring your own dry cereal and plastic spoons & styrofoam bowls and buy a single serving milk at the small market at your hotel. We scrapped the OJ and just bought it at the little market at HRH. Even coffee creams you can buy at your local store in a box (single serving cups) that don't need to be kept cold. Instead of beer in our cooler, we brought some limes from home, along with vodka and tonic, and brought our little vodka tonics to the pool with the HRH plastic cups available in the rooms.

We actually saved a lot of time and were able to hit the parks earlier by getting a little creative with planning and shopping before we left. We saved a ton of $$$ making our own cocktails in the room -- I mean, you can carry/bring them all around the hotels. Lunch and dinner we eat at restaurants, tho!

The 25.00 fee is to empty the mini bar - at least it used to be that way.

Is the 25.00 a one time fee for a fridge or do they charge that everyday?

If it's a one time fee, I will definitely get one, if it's a daily fee, I will have to make the daily sacrifice to go fetch the ice! I think that 150.00 for 6 nights is a bit steep for a mini fridge!

Plutoluvr it sounds like you've got the right idea going with the vodka tonics!
I would love to fill my cooler with those kinds of treats, but we will have my 4 and 11 year old boys with us!!

My cooler will be filled with juice boxes, Diet Cokes, milk, and Gatorades! :yay: :yay: :yay:
