Fridge/coolers in rooms & Soda sticker

I've seen some postings about coolers in rooms. Does DCL provide a cooler/fridge in the rooms to keep a few drinks cold? Also, we are going on the 7 day western on 6/19 does anyone recommend buying the drink sticker/ cup for soda for the week? Or ar e we better off just buying soda by the dring? Is ice tea free or is that treated like soda?

Welcome to the Boards and congratulations on the cruise. You will have a great time. There are "fridges" in the rooms. They are below the tv's and they can hold a few bottles of water, milk containers etc. Some people have better luck than others with getting things really cold. They do work, but its not like being at home. You can also request ice in your room up to three times a day for drinks. Iced Tea is free at the beverage stations and restaurants and soda is free with dinner. So the card will depend on how much you really drink. I think its like $5/day, and they are about $1.50 individually at the bars so you can make that call.

All staterooms come equipped with a "Beverage Cooler." Basically, it is a low-powered fridge. On our cruises I have always brought 6-8 cans of Coca-Cola to keep in the stateroom and the Beverage Cooler has always done a nice job of keeping them cold.

As far as the Unlimited Soda Package, you may find it to be a good deal or you may not. It really depends on how much soda you will drink while on the cruise. Keeping in mind that sodas will be free in all of the sit-down restaurants at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you may find that you wouldn't make much use of the mug.

Sodas run just under $2.00 if you buy them individually at bars. That's not a huge cost and is actually quite comparable, or even cheaper, than most restaurants. The soda package runs $35.00 for the sticker. So, you would need to consume at least 3 sodas per day outside of any that were free at the sit-down meals in order to break-even with the program.

We have 2 children, ages 12 and 9. We bought them each a sticker. ($70.00!!!!!) They spent VERY little time with us, and a LOT of time with all of the friends that they met. I wanted them to be able to have a drink whenever they wanted, without having to track down mom and dad. Did they each drink $35.00 worth of soda? I doubt it, as we are not big soda drinkers at home. However, I look at it this way..............When I've just spent $4,000 on a vacation, what is another $70.00? And, after all.....this is a vacation. Who cares how many sodas the drink. 1 week a year won't kill them. (Some may call me a bad mother for this, I know)
We didn't buy the mugs, so that they wouldn't have to keep track of them.

Our DSs are 16 and 13, and we'll be buying them the soda stickers too, for the same exact reasons you've mentioned. DH and I will be having "drinks" when we want them, we want DSs to be able to enjoy a soda when they want to. Like you said, in the grand scheme of an expensive vacation, the $70 really isn't much.
