So when I made my first trip to WDW in 2008 I was excited about trying the infamous school bread only to be disappointed by a smaller looking version that seemed a bit stale...The last 2 times in 2009 and 2010 I decided to give it another try and again it didn't seem very fresh to me:confused3 Am I missing something? Is the bread supposed to be slightly dry or soft and moist like how it looks? I also found that there wasn't much custard/cream inside either. So going again in August and I am on a mission now to have a good school bread:rotfl: So tell me how is the quality of it now? Can anyone honestly say that have had a nice soft custard/cream filled school bread?:upsidedow

A year ago I had it and noticed the quality has gone down. The first time I had it the bread part was on the drier side (not donut like) and there was a lot of custard. Just a quirt now. I like the almond pretzels the best now.

We had never had it before and got it last month. There was a TON of custard in ours and it seemed really fresh. We loved it. I think it's worth another try!

lol I wish there were a way I could tell there was a custard filled batch other than creeping around and staring at ppl eating their school bread:rotfl: I think if I asked the CM's working the counter they would say yes of course so they could sell it:lmao:

The one I had last Sept./Oct. had a cake doughnut consistency (like Dunkin' Donuts) and a average size blob of custard (about the same amount of custard that comes in a Dunkin' Donuts doughnut) with a little squirt of custard on top. I thought it was good, but not wow-must-have-twenty-of-these-to-go kind of way. The almond pretzel is still my favorite treat at the Norway bakery.

I've always had it realy filled with cream (love that cream). But I did notice on this last trip in June that the dough was not as fresh as before. I wouldn't call it stale, just not as fresh but the cream more than made up for it.

They have gotten smaller over the years but then everything at Disney has, then again the same thing is happening at the grocery store too!

could the freshness issue be a timing issue? meaning if you go early in the morning vs after they've sat in the display case most of the day??? just a thought. to me that makes a difference at least at dunkin donuts it seems to.

we had schoolbread just two days ago and it did seem stale and there wasn't even a teaspoon of creme in it... i agree that the almond pretzel is best now..
