French Toast Loaf is no longer offered!

I know it's disappointing, but are you really going to cancel your entire trip because of a snack? Forgive me, but isn't that a little extreme??

It may seem extreme, but think of it this way--we all have breaking points, cutbacks continue to happen and if you dont' like them you have to voice yourself somehow. By going and by patronizing the bakery you just show them that they were right to cut it out of the offerings, you still go, you still buy they have not lost anything. When people cancel and follow that up with a letter to the effect of why they cancelled and there are many others that do the same change can occur. While french toast loaf my not be your breaking point it may be someone elses.

I'm sure it was more labor and ingredient intensive than other things so with the new generic menus comes a discontinuance of yet another thing.

I think that they are totally different. I hated the Tonga Toast at Kona, but loved the French Toast Loaf at Main St Bakery. Very different tastes IMO.

Man, I love the French Toast Loaf. Well, I guess they just saved us some money. Our tradition at MK is for my son and I to go get breakfast at the bakery while my DH takes DD on her first ride. Now the only reason we do this is so I can get my French Toast Loaf fix a couple of times on our trip. I know that that they have other great things, but the French Toast Loaf is why I stop. Now, we won't bother. We will just grab breakfast in the room. While this makes me sad, this will make my non-breakfast eating husband happy that we can mark the Bakery off our list.

I guess I just can't see canceling an entire WDW vacation simply because a food has been discontinued. I guess I can see skipping the bakery & sending a letter to Disney voicing my concern, but depriving myself or my family an entire vacation seems like the only one losing out in the end is.....well, me I can certainly see being disappointed and bummed out, but I can't fathom my entire WDW vacation being ruined over a piece of bread. There are so many other things about WDW to enjoy. But I guess to each their own.

I have my favorite snacks as well & I take advantage of them while I can, but I guess I like that Disney is always evolving. That french toast bread probably replaced an item that was a favorite to some & I'm sure something else yummy will replace the french toast bread.

I also think people need to be a bit sympathetic that WDW is also being hit hard by our tough economic times, just like everywhere else. I, for one, would rather they get rid of a costly food item than have them raise the ticket or hotel prices. I know WDW makes a fine profit, but sales are down & my guess is WDW is doing what they can to stay afloat.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I hope you guys do not decide to lose out or have your families lose out on an entire vacation over this. There is too much other magic to be found at WDW!

Oh gosh, no I concur with you for the most part, but I was more kind of seeing the side of the person who posted they may cancel. I have breakfast in my villa and will continue to that especially now that my favorite breakfast spot is closed (Boatwrights), another victim of cutbacks.

No, I knew what you were saying. The cutbacks are awful and hopefully they will add back in these restaurants & increased Fantasmic shows & such when the economy builds back up again. In the meantime, I'm with you by packing my own breakfasts to save a few bucks

First off I don't believe Disney was losing profit by offering french toast loaf for sale, but this year they may have started making less of a profit. Same thing for figaro fries, breakfast at boatwrights etc.
Less profit is something disney needs to learn to accept in this economy if they want to keep people happy. At around $4 a serving, it always selling out and taking it off the snack credit offerings Iam sure they were making a profit from it.
Next I think will be Goofys make your own treats and the cookie/ice cream sandwhiches.
Disney needs to realize "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", even if some items make a few cents less $$..

Well, I guess that solves my dilemma of how to fit in Capt. Cooks for Tonga Toast and French Toast Loaf. I am disappointed as I was really looking forward to trying it for the first time.

My family must be a bunch of freaks. We tried it in November 2008 and thought it was the grossest thing ever. And we LOVE French toast. The muffin was good though.

My DH is very sad. This has always been an actual "item" on our itinerary:

8:00 am - EMH at MK, stop at bakery for FTL, proceed to POC

At least I have the recipe somewhere...but it's complicated and expensive to make. I can understand why they discontinued it...yummy as it is I cannot imagine someone having to make tons of this stuff every day! What a pain.

I was worried this was going to happen. We were just at WDW during President's week. We went to the bakery on Sunday, February 15 for breakfast and when I got to the counter there was no french toast loaf I couldn't believe it. I was so bummed and the girls just said they didn't have it. So we went back to MK on Monday, February 23 and went back to the bakery again for breakfast and guess what they had it
I was so happy since it's a tradition. I hope they reinstate it! But everything else is yummy too!

It's not your typical french toast more a cross between french toast and bread pudding.
