French Quater compared to Riverside

Love FQ because it's the smallest of the moderates. Makes even the fartherest rooms pretty close. I admit we don't do Riverside because having lived in the rural south at points it's hard to get in to the theme.

It may be small, but in my experience, it's the only moderate hot tub that has never been too crowded to use.

I personally would not get in a hot tub that small if there are strangers in it, along with the other negatives of it's location. I just find the POFQ "swim" amenities geared for very young families and has no pluses for us. Actually when we were at POR and took kids over to see pool at POFQ (9 and 5) they said it was a baby pool with a baby slide and no interest in using it.

It's all good that there is something for everyone :goodvibes

I think the hot tub at POR is just slightly larger with the same configuration as POFQ. Hot tub capacity at POFQ is 9 people. I'm not sure what the capacity at POR is though. Do you avoid that one if there are people in it?

I personally don't mind strangers, as long as they're not jumping in and splashing me. :hyper:

I don't care for pubic hot tubs, but I will use the ones at Disney. I think it's slightly bigger, not sure but to answer your question, yes I will avoid it as well if there are people in it. I will give you that, the advantage to POFQ is I have always seen it fairly empty due to it's location. At POR it is close to the bar and pool so it is utilized.

May be one reason I prefer CSR, the hot tub is huge and usually plenty of room. I also like AKL's tubs, they are tucked and hidden so I think most don't go looking for them.

I did like the size and shape of the CSR hot tub. If only they could get rid of those darn kids!

ALL hotels should strictly enforce the age in hot tubs. If nothing else should a child become overheated or ill ... and the lifeguard allowed them in the hot tub ... Disney could be liable.

Interestingly enough the CSR hot tub was never hot enough during the two weeks we were there. The temperature was just a few degrees warmer then the pool. I wonder if they keep the hot tub cooler at this resort because the hot tub is so big and right next to the pool. It sure attracted lots of young children.

I've never seen any lifeguard at any pool ever enforce an age restriction.

We stayed at POR once and at POFQ three times. We are consiygoing back to POR because f the quiet pools. We go in December and the PORQ pool usually closes at 10. If we stay quiet can we use the quiet pools at POR after 10?

I have stayed at both places. My fav is POFQ. The only bad is no TS restaurant. But that means I take the boat more to Disney Springs.

Absolute best thing about POFQ is the one bus stop! Get on the bus and go! Very occasionally you'll share with POR and that always reminds me why I don't want to stay there! That loop around the whole resort is just a pain. There's not a bad room in all of POFQ--nothing is more than a 5 minute walk, tops. And top to bottom we've had nothing but the friendliest CMs there! Every single one we've interacted with has been amazing.

For POFQ is there any kind of Standard Room request you can make or recommend?

Thanks,

Tony

POFQ

small resort so everything is close
one bus stop. means no circling the resort before heading to the parks
Beignets are a unique and yummy treat available here
some people enjoy the New orleans theme (NOT our favourite)
good pool and splash area for very small children

POR

large spread out resort, nice for walking around and enjoying the scenery
4 bus stops meaning that despite the size, there i still a bus stop not too far from your room
3 different room style options; bayou, mansion, royal rooms
interesting grounds (we think that it is beautiful here)
huge food court
table service restaurant (we find it to be quite good)
Yee haa Bob entertainment
Carriage rides
Bike rentals
Cool themed pool with a good slide at the resort, no need too walk or go elsewhere
nice 'quiet' pools as a less busy alternative
preferred rooms offer small resort convenience within a large resort for amenities
extra fold down bed for larger families available in AB rooms

Both resorts share the amenities of the other. rooms at both are the same size. Exterior building with exterior corridors (motel style) accommodations. Discounts seem more often available at POR. Both have a boat to DS.

WE have stayed at both depending upon discounts/ price/ avilability and enjoyed our stays at both. We do prefer POR to POFQ for the added amenities. We don't mind the extra bus stops - once we are on the bus we are happy planning and chatting about our day, we hardly notice the ride or where we are until we arrive at the theme park. But that's us, we are pretty laid back, we go to WDW to relax. Rope drop rarely factors into our plans.

OP:
You will enjoy POFQ. It is very similar in many ways to POR, but has its own unique appeal. We are happy to have stayed in both and would return to either.

We liked building 2 facing away from the pool. However, most rooms looked to be pretty good. One of the nice things about POFQ is that there isn't much likelihood of a truly bad room location.

We had standard last week. Building 2, I requested a room facing the parking lot. Walk out the door, down a sidewalk, take a left and you are at the bus. 1 min walk.

Definitely sounds like Bldg 4. Bldg 2 doesn't face a parking lot at all and you'd have to go right to get to the bus stop.

We've stayed in Bldg 4 twice and it's perfect!

Building #4 is the closest to the buses and depending on the room's location slightly closer to the main building than # 3 . If closeness to POR is a factor ask for #7. We have been in every building but #4 , on all floors and every view except parking lot and have had no bad location.

Going to FQ for the first time. I chose it because of its small size. Pleased to see that's one of the perks.

French Quarter is my favorite Disney World Resort.

I love the smaller size, food court, pool, river boat to DS...and just everything about it.

Can't think of any negatives.
