anyone own one? I found a pretty good deal on one, just worried there isn't enough room in the refrigerator part, and how is it with the freezer on the bottom? is it hard to find stuff? Going crazy trying to make a decision!

I've had one for two years (GE profile). I do like having the botton freezer but I still struggle with arranging the shelves in the fridge for the best arrangement. I start the week with 6 gallons of milk....so space is a premium.

I have an LG one. I am very happy with it.:thumbsup2 WAY better than the side by side I used to have. Sometimes it's a little bit hard to find what I need in the freezer, but there is a pull out in the top of it that helps a lot, I try to keep the things I will need in the next few days in that pull out shelf.

The only thing I don't like about it is the stainless steel outside of it. I really wanted black, but it was a special order item, and when my fridge died, I just could NOT wait 2-3 weeks for a special order black to come in. I defnitely did not want white, so I settled for the stainless. I'm used to it now, and since I discovered microfiber cloths, the outside isn't as messy as it ws before.

We've had our GE Profile for several years, I don't think I could ever go back to a traditional fridge! I love that everything is eye level. Our freezer has 3 pullout drawers, so it is very easy to get to things in there. My sister has a new side by side and I can't find anything in there, it seems so crammed. So I will definitely buy another french door fridge when the time comes.

the model I am looking for has two drawers in the freezer, one that comes out further than the other, so I wouldn't have to dig, atleast I don't think. The stainless does bother me a bit, I had it in my last house, and actually really didn't like it. I'm just worried about space in the fridge. the model I found is a samsung, at a great price..floor model. The side by side I am looking at is a whirlpool gold, which looking at reviews, maybe not so good. Hmmm....decisions, decisions. thanks for the input!

I have a Samsung and love love LOVE it! I got a good deal on it (20% off) but took a lot of haggling. ;) It has the twin cooling system for both the fridge and freezer. I also have an ice maker/water dispenser with built-in filter. I don't have any problems finding stuff in the freezer. I also have the tiered baskets that pull out and easy to see stuff. I don't put a lot of items in there and use my upright freezer for the bulk. I love how easy it is to see everything in the fridge and I have so much more room for my food. I also like the LED lighting plus the water dispenser has child lock.

we have an LG and Love it!! Pleanty of room in the fridge and the shelves inside and buckets on the door are all adjustable (even depth wise on the door) I can fit at least 3 gallons of milk right in the door, leaving pleanty of room in the rest of the fridge.

I have the same Samsung as the previous poster, and Ive got to say that I love my old side by side better. The Samsung is nice but there is little to no room for things like mayo, mustard, ketchup and other bottled and jarred items because I like to keep milk and juices in the larger compartments in the door and there is not enough room in the other two compartments. My other complaint is more about the users of the fridge than the fridge itself- my kids will pull the freezer out and then lean on it while they are digging out whatever it is they are looking for this loosens the seal, plus its a little harder to find stuff in the bottom bin, also I run out of ice alot when company is over- the ice maker's storage capacity is small it takes up some of the shelf space in the left hand corner of the fridge. I got it at a really good price but Ive got to say I do like my old Kenmore elite side by side better, I still have it its just out in the garage.

I guess it depends on which model you have. I honestly never looked at any, DH brought it home a few years ago when he was working in appliances at Lowe's. I didn't think we needed a new fridge but he could not pass up the deal we got on it. Now I'm REALLY glad we got it.

If this helps - mine has multiple ways to arrange all the shelves, including all of the shelves on the doors. I could easily store at least 3 gallons on one door if I really needed to. I have ALL of my bottled condiments & misc (salad dressing, mayo, ketchup, BBQ sauce, A1, tenderizers, jelly, etc) on the doors, I counted 12 on one door, with the butter dish on the bottom shelf of the same door. On the other door I have a gallon milk and 1/2 & 1/2 one shelf, and the other two shelves on that door have a total of 13 misc condiments including relish and other jarred condiments. These are all mostly regular sized though, nothing Sam's club sized!

We looked at the french door refrigerators, ended up with another side by side though. The square footage for the freezer is less on the french door models than the s/s. We do not have another freezer, so this was important to us. A key feature was finding a refrig with the ice maker in the door, not the top shelf of the freezer...... this frees up more usable freezer space, IMHO.

We did not get the stainless, we got the platinum? It looks like stainless, but does not get fingerprints, and is magnetic. It is also a Samsung, and I love it. The lighting is so nice, it is quiet too. We got the counter depth one, so we did have to adjust to it being slightly smaller than the old S/S we had....... I wanted the counter depth to make my kitchen a little "larger", we want to sell in 1-2 years.

I bought a large GE profile with a double drawer bottom freezer and hated the bottom freezer-no space, hard to organize and a real buggar to keep clean. My original plan was to buy a cheaper one to leave at the old house and bring my new frig. I left the big one at the old house and bought myself a smaller side by side and a freezer for the basement for the new house. I really hated that frig and I love the side by side which I thought was not possible.

so many opinions ! guess that is why there are so many different models to choose from. I am worried about the freezer part, although ANYTHING, even a cooler with ice in it, would be better than what I currently have.

I've had mine for over 7 years and I will never get a regular fridge ever again!

It's roomy everything can fit and I love that the shelves are adjustable both inside the fridge as well as on the doors. I can actually put whole catering trays in there with no problem when we have our annual parties - you could never do that with a regular or side-by-side fridge. I enjoy having the freezer in the bottom since I'm a little stature-challenge (5'3") so no more standing on my tip-toes to check what's in the back of the freezer. Everything in the fridge part is eye-level so again not more stooping or benting to get stuff. We're actually thinking of upgrading and getting one that has the water dispenser on the door-the one we have has the water dispenser in the fridge. Oh, I have the LG.

We have had the Samsung for 3 years and I LOVE it! My favorite thing is the freezer, with all the different pull out drawers and separated sections, it makes it easy to organize to find anything you are looking for. And I love the large pull out drawer in the fridge. My only complaint would be that the model we chose had the icemaker in the fridge (which now I am told you can get a model where it is actually in the freezer, my brother has it and loves it too), the icemaker takes up quite a bit of room from the upper left part of the fridge, leaving not ALOT of room for tall items (milk, juices, bottles, etc.) So if that is an issue you might want to get the freezer icemaker model. Also we got the Satina finish, looks like stainless but magnets work on it and I NEVER have a problem with fingerprints!! I would definitely recommend it!

I have one - an LG - bought it this spring and love love lOVE the fridge part of it. That's what I bought it for. I have a large upright freezer in the garage that I use for 90% of my freezer needs so almost all I use the freezer on the LG for is ice cream, toaster strudels, hot pockets, frozen juice, and other stuff for the kids. If I had to use the bottom-mount freezer for ALL of my freezer needs I would HATE it. Then again, I am used to having a lot of freezer space. I have a family of 5, and am often feeding up to 7 at meals, so I buy IN BULK and the big upright in the garage is always full. If I had to try to cram everything I am used to having on hand in that wee little drawer it would drive me crazy. I also wouldn't like having to bend over to rummage for things, but it works fine for the stuff I keep in there for the kiddos.

However, since I knew I wouldn't need to use that freezer, I knew I would continue to use the big upright, I was free to select the model based on the fridge I wanted, and the LG fits my needs perfectly. I love the French door design, I love the big wide shelves, I love the ice and water through the door, I love how evenly it cools (I think not having the freezer on top helps it cool better) and I love the big wide slide out drawers. I only have one complaint and that is that it is lacking in storage for tall bottles. I am used to buying big bottles of condiments and sauces and they all have to lay on their sides :sad2: or I have had to buy little ones. because of where the icemaker sits (in one of the doors) there is almost NO in-door storage, which is where bottles would usually be stored.

I have a Samsung, with water/ice dispenser and love it. I, like others have stated, love that everything in the refrigerator section is at eye level. I also think that the compartments are very functional. I will admit that keeping the freezer organized is a constant battle for me...It is easy to fill it up and forget what you have in there. I also have an upright freezer I keep in the basement, so really should be able to figure this about between the two units!

We have the stainless Samsung model as well and I love it. I can't imagine ever having anything else again. Although I did see they now have a the one with two freezer drawers which looks awesome. Mine has the sliding drawers that can move if you need to put something large it and I love that as well as the huge deli drawer that holds a large tray. The freezer is huge, no matter how much stuff I have in there, there always seems to be room for more which amazes me but like everyone else said, it is hard to keep organized. The only thing I don't like is keeping the stainless clean...pain in my butt!

My great aunt had a regular frig with the freezer on the bottom and it made so much sense to me. :thumbsup2

I got my LG French door with freezer on the bottom a few years ago. I absolutely love it! :cloud9:

My DH who is over 6 feet tall likes it too. He didn't think he would but he really likes being able to see everything in the frig without having to bend over. It just makes sense to have the freezer on the bottom since you get into it the least. Mine has a pull out drawer that holds a lot and then it has a divider in the bottom basket that you can slide to where you want. I have no trouble finding things easily.

Our french door also has the water and ice dispenser in the door. We love this. Many of the models have a water dispenser but not the ice dispenser. Ours has both and we have not had any problems with it.

We had to get a new fridge when our old one broke down. Had a side-by-side for 11 years. I got myself a french door and I LOOOOOOOOVE it! Love the bottom freezer drawer that pulls out. I find that it's much easier to store stuff and if seems like it has a ton more room. I really enjoy the huge pull out drawer in the fridge too. The only thing is that I had a lot of condiments and all of them didn't fit into the door storage shelves, but I've slowly used them up or just tossed stuff I didn't really use. I have really enjoyed it though.

Good luck!

Ang

Great...thanks so much for all the input. I went with it, got credit for the side by side I had purchased yesterday. I thought the french door was going to be about a hundred bucks more, turns out it was about $20 less. Sweet!! Gets delivered on Tuesday. Can't wait!!
