My Dr thinks I should have my two small warts on my thumb burnt off. My question is I'm a huge wimp for those that have had it done does it hurt?

When my daughter was in second grade is a bunch of warts. She had a few around her lips. I had to give her benadryl before we came. The nurse held ice to freeze it for a few minutes. Then, they burned them off.

My poor son had so many on his hands he had to have surgery. Boy that was alot of scaring. I would probably freeze them off.

Have you tried the over the counter Wart Removal products? Both my daughters and I have had them over the years and 2x went to have them frozen off and it didn't work. We found that the OTC stuff, used as directed worked much better, was cheaper, and less painful. It does take longer but it did the job.

My son had to have five frozen off from his hand. He endured it but it did burn/sting while they were doing it. I have had some skin growths burned off and it does sting a bit but it's manageable.

I can be a wimp to but no way would I live with warts on my hand.

About 10 years I had 2 or 3 frozen on my foot and from what remember it was only painful for a minute or so.

I haven't had it done, but DS15 has. He now has a few more warts and is asking to go back to have those frozen. I'm thinking if it was very painful, he wouldn't be asking to go back.

The OTC freezer's do work, just make sure you only freeze the wart and not the area around it. DS said it is more an uncomfortable feeling that a hurting/stinging kind of hurt.

I just took my mom to have a couple frozen off last month. She didn't seem uncomfortable...and they fell off within a few days.

My DD this summer had over 20 warts on the bottom of both her feet. 2 doctors recommend surgically removing them, with a recovery time of several weeks. DD is a soccer player so she kept putting it off. Went to a new dermatologist and she recommended that instead of surgery, the doctor would inject a yeast base solution into one foot. The thinking is the yeast attaches itself to the wart and your own immune system attacks it. She went back 3 times about every 2 weeks. Each time it was amazing how the warts vanished. Even though she put it into only one foot, warts off both disappeared. No scarring, no pain, no hassle. Compared to the procedures the other doctors recommended, this was a piece of cake!

I know this remedy sounds weird, but I think I read about here and it works!

I had a very stubborn wart on my finger that kept growing back. Here is what I did:

I used apple cider vinegar. (Wal Mart brand) I soaked a tiny piece of cotton ball with it and placed it on the wart and covered it with a band-aid. I changed it a few times a day. Within a few days it turned black and fell off, which is just what I had read would happen. That was a few years ago and it hasn't grown back. There was no pain at all. Very easy and cheap!

don't ask me, i passed out!

:rotfl: i had 2 warts frozen off and i had to get a steroid shot on the small of my back in 3 really bad spots of my psoriasis. it was also really hot in the office, so i think that didn't help me.

i've had another frozen off and i didn't pass out that time.

but just becareful when using your fingers to not knock, bump or anything like that... it's a little tender!

I had one on the tip of my second two burned off in high school. O M G it HURT. It was connected to a nerve and the pain actually shot up my leg a little. I still don't regret it...a few minutes of pain is better than a wart.

I have had more than my share removed by anyway possible. The worst way is acid. Freezing and burning were about the same. With burning, I have always had a shot of novacaine first.
When I was 11 I had about 2 dozen removed from my hands. Then about 6 years ago, I had about 12 plantars warts(on the bottom of both feet) removed. Those were the acid treatment and it was BRUTAL to say the least. I had to go weekly for debriding-which was not too bad. It was when they stuck and pressed the stick with acid in that had me seeing stars.

My daughter had warts on both of her hands, 2 to 3 around each nail bed, one big one on her knee, and another one on the bottom side of her arm close to her elbow, a total of about 25 to 30 warts altogether. Since she had so many on her hands, I took her to her pediatrician (old school pediatrician, I think he is in his 60s) because she wanted to get them removed. Because he is old school and because he knows his stuff, he suggested putting my daughter on old school Tagamet, generic is called cimetadine. It is an old ulcer medication that is not prescribed much anymore because of all the newer products that have been put out. She took this medication for 3 months and EVERY SINGLE one of her warts including the 2 bigger ones are gone COMPLETELY. They have never came back and she has been off the medication for 5 years now. She took it when she was 10. She never had to have a single one removed and it took care of ALL OF THEM.

He said the medication had been shown to work with certain types of warts, depending on what kind and he thought it was worth a try instead of trying to freeze off all of them (very painful). Within a month they were starting to disappear, within 3 months they were gone.
