I am wanting to make some sugar cookie cut outs for Christmas for my daughters preschool and was wondering if freezing the cookies would be a bad idea? It sure would save me alot of time to bake them ahead of time then freeze them. I plan on taking them to her school party with stuff for them to decorate them with. Anyone know if this would work?
TIA
Sheila

I too make my sugar cookies ahead of time & freeze them in rubbermaid containers with no problems. I love to have them baked & ready in the freezer for frosting & decorating later.

If you separate the layers with freezer film or baking parchment you don't have to get them all out at once if you don't need to :thumbsup2

Thanks all! Now I just need to find a recipe for sugar cookies that is good, easy, and won't burn!!!! I don't like it when my cookies get too brown on the bottom. I use a non stick silver cookie sheet. What kind would work best?

I use a Silpat mat for cookies. Silpat

It helps cook them evenly, so the edges don't get brown faster than the middle.

I'll second the use of a silpat. there are other brands that are exactly the same as the silpat and they work really well to. Exopat is another brand.

Right now there is a silpat brand on sale at Amazon.
