can I do this? I have so much turkey, and while we love it..there's too much of it!! It's sliced, and pieces. Can I put it up in plastic bags in the freezer for a while, and then do casseroles and soup with it? Thank you everyone for the "left-over" turkey recipe sites.....there was actually one on there that said to make two 8" pans and to freeze one, so I'm thinking that maybe I can freeze it??? :confused3 Has anyone tried it? TIA...Barb

It's like any other meat. It freezes fine even when cooked. Just make sure you use freezer bags.

I freeze turkey every year. Then when I want dark or white or recipes, I just pull out a bag to defrost.

Absolutely! I even freeze the carcass, and make soup later in the winter.

I wouldn't see why not! I freeze cooked chicken all the time and it is fine, so I would think Turkey would be the same.

One of my working mom/money saving tips is to buy chicken breasts when they are on sale. I then cube them up and fry/brown up in a frying pan with a little olive oil. I then freeze in freezer bags (I like the ziploc bags with the little pump that sucks out the air). A lot of recipes call for cubed/cooked chicken so I am way ahead of the game. I do about 2-3 times a year and it saves me so much time during the hectic work week and money!

I was thinking of putting my leftover turkey in the freezer today do you think it is already too old though? I wasn't sure if I had waited too long, and if the turkey was still ok to use?

Watched many shows about how long to keep turkey. And everyone says turkey only keeps for 4 days after you cooked it. If you still have leftover turkey I would just toss it. I tossed the rest of mine yesterday.
