Freezing cold, Hot, Wet & Cold Again TR-2011 with a tribute to Born 2 Fish!

WOW, 15 minutes for TSM!!! That's a FIRST!!! Even at the posted 40 minutes that's a short line!!! YOU GOT LUCKY!!

I know! I couldn't believe it! From what I had read about it, I didn't think we had a chance. I would never wait 2 hrs for a ride. It was WELL worth the 15 minutes.

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I like you guys!

Aw, thanks:flower3: It's so very true though, you never realize how NOT cute you are until you're photographed next to two 20 year olds. Getting old stinks!

Great TR so far!! :thumbsup2 I LOVE your Mickey lamp post!! How heavy is that milk can?!

I love the Mickey post too! Did you paint the can yourself?

Ty!!! The can weighs about 10lbs. It was an ugly brown/rusty color when we got it, then we sanded it, taped it off and painted it. The post is attached to the lid of the can, so we just take the whole lid, post & globes off so it's easier to transport.

Sunday- unfortunately all trips come to an end, and trip reports. Sunday morning was CHILLY at the fort. I put a spiral ham in the oven so the kids could eat an early dinner before they had to head home. They bundled up & took off to get some hot chocolate:

Then decided to go do some fishing behind the 300 loop, Amanda had a mouthful of oreos to hold her over on the fishing expedition!

They weren't having much luck back there, so the boys took the cart down to the bike barn to cast a line there. After about a half hour, Nathen calls me to come down there, so we take off on the bikes and find him smiling like the cat that ate the canary!

First thing he said was, "wait till Fishin Frank sees this!" Trevor and I stuck around and took some pictures:

I love this picture, there was a father laying in the grass with his young son fishing, a couple of families playing tag football, people across the water in the 600 loop were out in lawn chairs. Just a nice Sunday, family afternoon.

wdwjan2011080.jpg

We strolled over to the pool, where a few kids were swimming!

wdwjan2011082.jpg

Nathen had a nice healthy "brunch"

Disney_042.jpg

The kids decided to rent a canoe, so we took the cart back to our site.

Disney_033.jpg

They called and told me to come over behind the dog park as they were paddling up that way, so I could take a picture or them. What I didn't know, was that on the way, Jordan wanted to try to retrieve a lure he lost in a tree. It was higher than he first thought, so the lure is still there!

While I was waiting on the kids, Mason went to the dog park.

This is looking at the back of 300 loop, on the right you can see a couple who had parked their lawn chairs on the waters edge just to enjoy the sights and sun:

Continuing in next post......

Well done! There are some great bass in that canal.

:lmao:

That must have been an expensive lure, or, had sentimental value!

Come on can't you stretch this report out longer? I hope so as I am enjoying every post.

The playground next to the 300 loop:

wdwjan2011088.jpg

I told Trevor "I love this slide, I want to take a picture" He laughed and said "I don't think that would be a very comfortable slide!" So I guess it's not to slide down, but it's still cute!:

wdwjan2011091.jpg

We played cornhole, while Mason lounged in the cart: (Excuse the look on my face, I was in serious competition mode!!)

wdwjan2011094.jpg

Nathen and Amanda decided to head home a little earlier than planned as his truck had acted up on him on the way down. So they did a fluid check, and loaded up the bikes:

wdwjan2011099.jpg

I always get sad when the kids have to leave early, coupled with the fact I was worried about his truck breaking down. So Trevor, Jordan and I waited by the phone in case he had any problems. Once I knew he made it home safe, Jordan and I went to the trading post for something to make me feel better:

Goofy taffy, Fireballs, and a new trash magazine!!:thumbsup2

wdwjan2011100.jpg

We woke up early Monday morning, and started the dreaded clean-up. I like to get home somewhat early to do laundry, mail.......the yucky part of vacation.

Folding up the screen room:

One final check around the site:

wdwjan2011103.jpg

We got back home around 11:00 am. The boys ended up having to put a fuel pump in Nathen's truck. I washed all the towels and blankets and re-loaded for the next trip! Thanks for following along, hope to see ya'll soon!

I was shocked at that bass! Nate said if we weren't at Disney, he would be on the grill!

LOL! I think Jordan just needed a reason to climb the tree!

Your sig picture is gone! Did you get scolded too?

Great report ! :thumbsup2

What is that thing you have on the back of your truck that you are putting your ramps under?

Thanks! My husband made a "tailgate thingy" (boy, if that isn't a wife's explanation;)) out of steel that replaces the tailgate, the little black mini ramps fold up to hold the back of the gc tires when traveling, then fold down and the ramps hook to it to keep them from sliding out. I hope that makes some kind of sense. lol

It does, I just did not know if he made it or bought it. I have a friend who just got a new truck & needs something similar. If you have some better pictures of it, post them so I can 'borrow' your idea.

I made something similar for my Dodge Dakota quad cab. Since my truck bed is short, the rear golf car tires were siting on the tailgate. Even though the gc weight , according to Dodge, was within its limit, I was not comfortable. I made a sort rack that slides in my hitch, that puts the weight on the bed & the hitch. Not to mention my ramp hooks onto it and when it is loaded, I have a pin that slides through the rack, wheel blocks, ramps, then is secured with a padlock.

I will check my pics to see if I have a better one or I will take one now that it's off where you might be able to better understand my crummy description.:rotfl:

Great catch on the bass. :thumbsup2 Love your fur baby. :thumbsup2 popcorn::

Great TR! Sounds like a fun trip, thanks for letting us "fort" vicariously through you :rotfl:

Yes, those are gizmos. I definately think they help, the first cold camping we did without them, we had some condensation on the inside top of the canvas, haven't had that since. We do still get some condensation under the mattresses if it gets really cold, but that could be because the mattresses are heated and we have them cranked up when it's chilly. I do notice a big difference in the summer, to help reflect the sun. I went back and forth on them since other people just bought solar blankets from Cabelas, but by the time you buy those and something (clips) to attach them with, you're about at the same price as gizmos, which are fit to your model, and come with clips as well. :thumbsup2

We have gizmos on our hybrid, too, and never camp without them. Not only are they great for all the reasons you mentioned (condensation, reflecting heat or, as in our case up here during fall camping, flipping them over to insulate!), but I look at them as a smart investment, as they are keeping my canvas clean from sap, bird poo, or anything else that may drop on them. It will be much easier and cheaper to replace the gizmos than it would be to replace all the canvas.

As the mother of a 20 year old daughter, I hear ya sistah! :rotfl:

She'd look ok if she would ditch all that 48 junk she has hanging around. :lmao:

Donnie, don't be hatin' ;)

Man, I got flamed for hanging rope on our trees.....you hung a child! :lmao:

I never thought to mention that. The first time at the fort with this rv(without gizoms) we had some kind of berries drop on the canvas, and left a nice purple stain. Pay attention Tom!: :cool2:

Have a ton of fun! There is so much to do that sometimes we "forget" the parks are so close. It's sad to see how many people rush around and don't really enjoy all the fort has to offer! Take a lot of pictures to share with us....we seem to be lacking a lot of them lately. Everyone is naked!:scared1:
