We are traveling in a couple of weeks to the World -- we have our 9 month old so we have to bring formula -- we went in November and I had to toss our freezer pack at the airport when I went thru security (the gel in it was objectionable) --- I had packed other ones in the luggage that went in the belly of the plane..... anyone ever have this problem?? Gotta find a way to keep the formula cold --

My real question is what is a good, long-lasting gel pack/freezer pack that will hold up to an 8 or 10 hour day at the park in 85-90 degree conditions..in November, I just made it through the day with nothing extra left on the coldness level of the packs. I've bought ones in the supermarket, have ones that came with the bottle bag, etc....is there a camping site or something like that for outdoorsy types that need things to stay cold for a long time outside....(like at the Magic Kingdom:thumbsup2 )...any input would be much appreciated....

Can't wait to go....13 days and counting!:cheer2:

Befor we went to Disney. I gradually got my son used to drinking formula that was room temp and started using powder formula. They have already pre packaged amount. I filled the bottles with water and then just added formula and mixed it up really well. I never had to worry about anything going bad...:cheer2:

That would probably be easier - use the powder. You can mix it with bottled water. No need to refrigerate anything!

Hi Baboo,
Freeze some water bottles and that will last you thru the parks... if you need to keep things cold on the plane my suggestion is using the frozen thermos... (kind of like the frozen mugs; you put them in the freezer and you sit the bottle in it) It usually stays cold for 3 to 4 hours... u can find them in babies r us or somewhere that sells baby gear.

I don't think there are any freezer packs that stay cold for a really long time unless they are large and heavy. Or you can use several of them.

Don't forget, they must be frozen solid through and through to have maximum cooling power.

Thanks guys .... our little one drinks Alimentum - they don't sell those individual powdered packs - they have the big can whichI suppose I could break down -- the ready to feed is probably the best way to go...and the frozen water bottles is a great idea!!!

What about those ice packs that you break/crack and then they freeze. The kind you use if you twist your ankle or something - I dont know how long they last though.

You could use a small cooler bag and use the ice from the ice machines at the hotel.

Not to be a downer or anything, but we went last year Jan 30-Feb 9, and 85-90 degrees was not the temperature we experienced. It was downright cold in the morning and evening (to the point of wearing coats). I would say that it usually warmed up to 70 - 75 degrees in the mid day, if it was sunny. We only swam once, and my son has been know to swim in my sisters unheated pool when it is 68 degrees.

the weather was pretty warm in November but it could be cooler in January for sure -- we are due to go back in April which usually means warmer temperatures -- just planning ahead even if I don't need the freezer packs now, I'll need them then --- certainly not a downer for me to be at Disney when it's in the 60's --:goodvibes

They make a little tupperware container that has sections for formula. Each container has 3 sections, and the lid rotates so you can pour out of 1 section at a time. You can probably buy it at any baby store.

I know Target has these, because that's where I got mine. It's an easy way to take powder into the park with you. I, too, take bottled water and powdered formula. My DD likes it room temp all the time now. Much easier than keeping it cool and trying to warm it when you need to use it.

Thanks for all your suggestions --- just looking forward to our trip -- a little bummed out that Splash Mountain will be closed ...but I'll survive -- we're back in April - but the crowds will not be so kind on us then....over & out for now:goodvibes
