freezer in laundry room

I have a second fridge in my laundry room and an upright deep freeze just outside the door in my garage. I love having all of the extra fridge space when we entertain and for storing food at the holidays.

My laundry room fridge is very basic, nothing fancy...we purchased is at Home Depot for about $350. It really has been a godsend over the years.

When we had our raised ranch we had a small chest freezer in the laundry room downstairs, the room also housed, a toliet, sink and hot water heater it was actually good since when coming in through the garage from shopping I could drop of items needing to go in the freezer without having to lug them upstairs :)

This is a personal thing, I think, and OP you should do what you want. I recently renovated my kitchen and I have my laundry room off the kitchen (the laundry room is right off my back door entry). I would not want an extra fridge or freezer in my laundry room only because I wouldn't like the look of it. My laundry room is totally souped up. I have a stand-up freezer in my basement though and love the extra storage it provides.

I do have an undercounter beverage fridge in my laundry room which turned out to be fabulous decision that I do not regret in the least. It holds 120 cans of pop, plus bottled water or wine bottles. I have a teen son, and the neighborhood kids trail in and out to that fridge all the time. Since it is close to the back door it works out so great.

My parents have theirs in the laundry room. I say if you have the room in there go ahead and use the space for a freezer. Nothing wrong with it. I agree with PP don't put it in the garage as a garage gets hot and will cause it to run more.

I think laundry room would be fine...we have ours in the basement. A few have mentioned about the garage...unless your garage is heated it will break your fridge/freezer.

We had an issue a few years ago (which is why we moved it to the basement) Apparently the newer model refrigerator/freezzers are a less tolerant of temperature swings then the old ones. You will see that the required operating /room temp for a frideg/freezer is between 55-90 degrees...anything beyond that and it will cause it to run too long and cause the compressor to burn out. Luckily ours was under warranty still and they honored it given the fact that the temp in our garage was 45 degrees.

Our deep freezers have always been in our laundry rooms....as well as extra fridges!

We just added a laundry room to our house and specifically made it big enough to put a chest freezer in there (along with pantry shelves). Go for it!

I'm building a new house and I have room in my laundry room for a small chest freezer. My husband says he's never heard of such a thing. Has anyone ever put a freezer in their laundry room?

Yep, have it now, but mine is upright

Yep, my ex-MIL has hers in there and it is very handy. Mine is in the garage (which is attached, so it is heated) and it's not horrible but it's a little less convenient.

That's where ours is! Half our basement is finished as a bar/family room, the other half is the laundry room so that's where it sits. The garage would get too hot at our house so that's the only option.

We have talked about replacing our washer & dryer with a stacked duet pair and sticking an upright freezer in there.

I have my upright freezer in my laundry room and my extra refrigerator in the garage.

Mine sits next to my washer and dryer. Very small house with very small laundry room. It was the most convient space. I love it there.

I have a full size freezer in my laundry room. Its a great place for it!

We have our upright in our laundry room. I would not get a chest freezer though. They are really a pain in the rear having to dig to the bottom to get stuff, etc.

If it were a convenient location and there was space there, then there's no reason not to put it there.

The only other logical places other than the kitchen (which really usually doesn't have space) would be a pantry, the basement, or (depending on the climate where you live) the garage.
