Freestyle cups

We were there in 2012 and have our cups. Should we take them and pay the fee to refill them or just leave them home and by all new cups. My son has a sponge bob cup from years ago we usually take and pay a dollar or so to refill do they still use them at all? Trying to pack and so excited and ready to go.

The freestyle cups are the free refill ones that have the computer chip in them and are only good for what you pay for at the time. They can't be reused. The red cups with the reduced price on refills can be reused.

The Universal website says additional days on the Freestyle cups are $5.99 https://www.universalorlando.com/Restaurants/Universal-Dining-Plan-Quick-Service.aspx . That being said, I'm not sure how long the chips last. So, they should be reusable during your vacation they may not be reusable between vacations. I'm planning on bring my Red mug back (back when I bought mine they had handles). I may do the Sonic Fill Freestyle program at Cabana Bay though.

The Freestyle deal for add on days would be consecutive days after first purchase.

We bring our red cups and this summer had our Shamu cup. No issue. Universal refilled it for about a dollar. No need for the Freestyle for us. We can't drink that much to make it worthwhile. And, since we tend to also visit Busch parks, the mug refill works there too.

I leave the cups in our luggage. That way I don't forget, and it gets us happy that we're ready to visit again.
