Having become a regular budget DISer and freebie fan, I have also found the Slick Deals forum where many of these freebie offers are also posted and may serve as a source to some of our posts here. I discovered the following on their board today. It rings true the old wise adage, "If it seems too good to be true ... " Just beware when clicking on links and sending out your info. I know alot of us are savvy to the junk e-mail address but I think it's still a word to the wise in order to prevent possible scams from affecting fellow DISers. I happen to be one of the freebie fans who subscribe to the philosophy that it's only a great freebie/deal if you're going to use it and read thru the offers with a healthy amount of skepticism, but I admit sometimes I have gotten carried away in a freebie frenzy! Just FYI:

Over the past few months, and even going back further than that, we have seen a series of obvious scam offers posted in the freebie section. Recently, one user has researched them and discovered they are all perpetrated by the same person or persons.

The offers almost always offer a too good to be true sample or gift such as:

Free full size bottle of X14
Free Clorox cleaning kit
Free Scrubbing Bubbles
Free Apron

Of course, the page has since been taken down for this one which is par for the course for these scam offers. they stay up for a week or two and then go POOF.

Note that all the offers are promising something just a little too good to be true such as a full size product or something like Godiva truffles which are never offered over the net as free samples. They often use established brand names and use the Trademark signs to lure people in thinking it's for real.
Looking at the offers, I would not sign up. Most of them point to the same ip address 82.165.132.115 which indicate the sites are hosted on the same server.

A few Directv customers have been getting a flyer in the mail with the following message:

"This gift has been specially prepared for you. Please accept the following with our compliments: six months of Showtime unlimited

I've been told the offer has no commitments required but you may want to ask the CSR to be sure. Just mention you got the flyer by mail with the code and they should sign you up right away!
