The department of music has released a new CD that represents some of the best composition and performance work from the department’s graduate programs.

sound check one includes seven pieces selected by Charles Curtis, a world-renowned cellist and professor of music.

“It’s a surprisingly rich range of music, given that it’s all produced by acoustic instruments,” Curtis said.

While all acoustic in origin, the sound in some cases is manipulated by computers.

Pieces range from fresh interpretations of Brahms’ Clarinet Trio Opus 114 and Donatoni’s Omar, to new works by Cristyn Magnus, Jason Robinson, Rick Snow, Ming Tsao, and Shahrokh Yadegari.

BUT now I have to get this off my chest... Seems like each week there are two or three people doing all the work of finding the freebies.... And LOTS of people just lurking and posting just to get freebies... If everyone will try and find two or three each week it will make things alot easier... Everyweek I am on-line I try and find at least three or four new freebies to post.. I just dont think its fair to always take and never give... And if you have noticed the weekly thread is getting shorter and shorter each week... Come on guys lets all pitch in and find those freebies and post them so this weekly thread does not go down the drain... Freebies can be not only found on the web but in magazines, on prouct boxes, newspapers, on tv.... And I know some can not post links but you can type them out.... Actually like I said, I am addicted to finding freebies-- I LOVE a challange!

I know on some of the freebie sites I go on, they usually have some of the same daily freebies so there is not a lot to post. sometimes there are some repeats because of this and that is why I like to give some others a chance. but in my head i am thinking.....eeeek, I just wanna do just ONE MORE FREEBIE POST!
