Free (well, almost free) Gmail

Since I learned such great tips here about the lunch vouchers, I'll share one back. I don't know if any of you are interested in gmail accounts, but I found a free way to get one. That is the one-gig beta accounts of Google's new email. They used to go for hundreds of dollars at Ebay, but now they are down to just a few bucks. But I found a swapping site that is located at: http://www.gmailswap.com/
I noticed that some people were swapping postcards for accounts, so I offered to send a postcard from Disney World next weekend in exchange for one. I got two responses; one did not pan out, but the other one did. I received my gmail account already, and in exchange a person from Germany asked for a photo from Disney World of me holding a sign that says hello to him! Seemed like a fair trade to me. So if you want gmail, it never hurts to offer a postcard from WDW or your hometown. Just be sure to use a disposable email address when posting on the swap site. I didn't have any problems, but others posted that they got a lot of spam.
And by the way, I LOVE my gmail account!

Actually, if this doesn't sound too greedy, would either of you be willing to send me one? I know I already have one, but I'd love to have another one so people can send me Disney Cruise Line navigators for my website. The scans are huge and fill up a mailbox quickly, so it would be nice to have one just for that. You can send the invite to disneycruise@gmail.com

Thanks so much, Kate...you're the best! My husband is very happy, as he is the one who keeps the Navigators updated. It will be so nice to have a gig to store them.

Gmail is google's new free email service that offers a gig of storage. But it's in beta test, so you can't get an account unless someone else invites you. It has its quirks, but it's pretty cool. Some people do not like it because it scans your messages (computer, not a person), but I like that because it means you only see relevant text ads, not those annoying banners and pop-ups like Excite or Yahoo. And with a gig, you can save tons of email, photos, etc.
