I was wondering if the quick service restaurants in Disneyland and DCA will give you a free cup of water if you ask like the ones in WDW do?

Yes, and you can ask for a medium size cup instead of a small one. Sometimes they may give you ice and point out the nearest water fountain.

you can also get cups of water at starbucks. i prefer the water there than at some of the restaurants.

I know near Thunder mountain railroad there is a water spout to fill up bottles. Does anyone know where it is exactly and if there is one in DCA

I just returned from Disneyland, and most of the quick service restaurants gave me the child size cup . However, at the Cozy cone I received the medium size cup. :)

If they pointed out the nearest water fountain with an ice in a cup, I would simply explain we felt dehydrated, and would really appreciate it if they could fill it with water there. I don't think it's too much to ask of them, particularly when you are purchasing a meal for a family there. The ONLY non sugar option they offer is a diet coke, which has caffeine in it.... If they offered diet sprite too, I would probably just purchase that, but none of us drink caffeine. That being said, they have always been good about giving us free (small sized) iced water at almost any restaurant. :goodvibes

Some places only have bottled water available. If it's somewhere that serves bottled drinks only and not fountain drinks, they won't be able to give you a cup of water. In those instances, they'll give you a cup if ice and direct you to a water fountain.

Ohhhh, I see! Thanks for the clarification!! :)

Edited to add - how do they wash their hands then, I wonder?

Why? It's the same water park-wide.

starbucks always has really good water because of how much they filter it. i'm very picky about water, so we always try to take enough water of our own so that we won't have to refill in the park. maybe it was just an off day or something, but on one of our recent visits to the park we re-filled our water bottles with water from one of the restaurants and it did not taste good and my husband even said that it looked a little bit murky to him. later that day we asked for water at starbucks and it was much better.

It's in the CA health code that they can't wash their hands in a sink used for anything that's served.

Just a warning. Regular water there tastes awful, with an aftertaste. So Cal has bad water.

Not as bad as Florida / WDW.

I can drink So Cal water has long as it is ice cold, once it warms not so much. WDW water gave me intestinal issues, not fun on vacation.

Was in Disneyland last month for a week and was delighted that the fountain water was not as disgusting as the fountain water at WDW. I was happy to refill bottles. And all the fountains I used at DL were cold, which was amazing!! In my experience at WDW the fountains are usually warm!
