Does Universal give out free water like Disney? That saved me a bunch of money last year.....

Yes,all the vendor carts and restraunts do offer free water..:thumbsup2

Perfect, thanks! That should cut my budget by around $100, LOL!

Just go to any CS restaurant or to the little kiosks that sell popcorn, sodas and such and ask for a cup of ice water. Once we got a kiosk that gave us small(like 8 oz cups) with no lid, but everywhere else, we were given the regular sized cups with lids.

I specifically remember getting ice water at a kiosk over by the Rock n Roller Coaster at DHS(used to be called MGM), but the kiosks are all over.

We have the refill mugs [69 cents], but DW always asks for water refill as she does not drink a lot of soda.

I'm going to MGM for a day during our Universal trip. Where do you get the free water from?

are you asking where to get water at MGM/DHS?

if you are, i don't have an answer for you.
sorry.

Torinsmom answered it for me. I always lugged a cooler with water bottles in but after reading this thread I will just do what she said. With them selling water bottles I never knew they would give free cups of water.

Just get in line or walk up to the counter service restaraunts and ask for a cup with ice. Some of them will put the water in cup. Some have water fountains you fill yourself after you get your cup and ice. They also have drinking fountains. The water is nasty in Florida. If you like filtered water you have to buy the bottles.

I never had a problem in any of the 4 Disney parks last year. There were 8 of us and sometimes we would all get a free ice water at the same time. We asked for it with our CS meals as well, as drinks don't come with the combos(except for kids meals) I didn't even ask for "free ice water", I just said "May I please have cup of ice water?" If you say "I'd like water", they may assume you mean a bottled water.

I went to Disney 4 times before I read about the free ice water here. I just think of all the money I could have saved! I also hated drinking all that soda or sugary lemonade. I just bring the sugar free flavor sticks and save my money for other things.

By golly, I learn something new every day on the DIS. :disrocks: I had no idea you could do this. Forget schlepping heavy water bottles from now on.

A lot of places at Universal simply filled my Brita bottle with ice and water when I asked, instead of giving me a cup of water. Saves trees, and all that. Plus, my bottle is then completely full, whereas a cup of ice water wouldn't fill the whole bottle.

I am surprised they would do this, given sanitation. You know how restaurants will usually just bring you a new cup, since your mouth has been on the one at your table? You have to push the rim against the lever if the water comes from the soda fountain(which most does in the kiosks) My sister used a water bottle, but she just dumped the ice water into the water bottle.
