::confused3 This is probably wishful thinking but I was wondering if Disney ever does free upgrades to concierge at the Poly? Going to Disney Sept. 22-29 at the Poly and would like to know before I get there if this is possible. Thanks

I'll be there with my family the exact same dates you will be. We are staying at the Poly and looking forward to our trip! Oh wait...you are my family! :rotfl:

Hoping for an upgrade to concierge...but suspecting you might actually have to pay for us to do it.

Soon we will be enjoying and relaxing in a hammock at the Poly!:beach:

Okay...I am a complete loser! The computer was still signed in as "you"..GoofyRob and now it looks like you actually posted to yourself. Sorry! TinkerChelle lost her mind momentarily:crazy:

a friend of dsis's stayed at Poly last month. He had a standard garden view booked and was upgraded to concierge at check-in. He thought it had something to do with using the same AmEx card for 3 stays in a row, it sounds more like he just got very lucky.

Anything is possible, but don't count on it.

We were at the Poly the exact same dates as you last year, and we were upgraded for free from GV to Concierge. I thought we were just lucky until I got home and found out one of the buildings were down with electrical problems, so I guess that is why we were upgraded, but it sure was nice no matter the reason. We are going again in 12 days and hoping the Pixie Dust will follow us on this trip.

I have been trying to book club level for several weeks now. We are staying at the Poly Spet 29-Oct 5. Does anyone know the chances of a room opening if we want to pay to upgrade?????

We have been waiting for the same thing. 9/29-10/7. I am starting to lose hope.:confused3

A "free upgrade"? It would be hard enough to try and get a paid for upgrade at checkin never mind a free one. You could try asking how much an upgrade to club level would cost when you are checking in and may be you will get some pikie dust and they might give you a discounted rate but I would not go counting on a fee upgrade.

Over the past 11 trips we've been upgraded without charge 9 times - once to conceirge at WL. One of the two times we didn't score was at the Poly. But, it happens more frequently than one might think, especially if you check in early enough in the day and of course the resort has the availability. :thumbsup2

Well.............soooooo.....are you going to share those 'tricks of the trade' or just dangle them in front of our noses???? :confused3 Come on now, fill us in....
:hippie:

I too have recieved free upgrades in the past. It never hurts to ask when checking in if you might be able to upgrade free. If its possible they will do it and a lot of times if they cant do it free they can do it a lower rate then normal. :)

We actually got one form a LV to concierge. We had a view of MK, GF and Contemporary. My theory is that this happened for 2 reasons:

(1) CRO did a completly screw up on our original booking (tried to charge us 4 times)

(2) We were only staying 2 nights.

This is, of course, only my theory. Anyway I realy don't care "why" it was unexpected and a HUGE helping of pixie dust.:cool1:

We've never been upgraded to concierge but we have received "view" or "preferred location" upgrades several times. In all cases we were 2 adults, staying 2 nights or less, and were bumped to preferred or waterview king rooms...2x at POP, 2x at CSR. We have never been upgraded at a deluxe.

My theory is that they have less demand for king rooms in values & mods - most folks have families and request 2 beds. So, if you do not SPECIFY 2 beds, maybe you will get an upgrade...?

Also, I believe it is easier to get an upgrade if you are staying only one or two nights.

WOW!!!, What in the heck am I doing wrong?:confused3 We have stayed onsite 34 times in the last 20 years and have NEVER been upgraded! We must be a motley looking crew!!!:scared1:

Just curious...for those who have been upgraded, did you ask for a free (or paid) upgrade or was it just given to you?

Back in May 2000 when my parents and I were upgraded to from a standard room on the Atrium Club to a standard room on Tower Club at the Contemporary, we were given the upgrade for free at check-in. The Cast Member told us our room on the Atrium Club was not ready, however we had been upgraded.

There are far more GV then LV rooms at POLY. LV and concierge rooms tend to be highly booked. It's very possible you won't be able to upgrade even if you're willing to pay the difference in cost.
