Hey everybody.

I'm heading to Disneyland early next year. A good friend who is a CM at WDW has (extremely nicely) offered to allow us to use some of her Disneyland allowance tickets on our visit.

Can I ask, can we still use Maxpass and how will this affect it? Obviously I'm not going to not use the free tickets if I cannot use Maxpass, but I'm also very keen on the benefits of the service.

Any tips would be great.

Thanks,
Mark

I can't answer your specific question, but I would recommend you contact Guest Services and inquire. It might also be worthwhile having your CM friend ask to see if they can get more information.

On a side note, while MaxPass is nice, I wouldn't forgo complimentary entrance to Disneyland just because it won't be eligible for MaxPass. Given the cost of the tickets these days, that's not a small amount of money you'd be saving. You can still use the Fastpass system, you just have to go the attractions to get the FPs. MaxPass is nice because it reduce the amount of walking and the window between FPs is shorter (and it includes Photopass), but you can still get a lot done using the regular FP system.

A friend's sister graciously helped us into the park a few years back; some of the entries were CM comps and some were bought by her with her discount (repaid by us of course), but all had a physical ticket.

Additionally this past April we got some comp 1-day tickets at the end of our stay (a scheduled ride closure hadn't been communicated, and my autistic daughter was having a hard time with not being able to follow the plan we'd set; we asked if they'd walk us in to ride it once the next day before we flew out and they very graciously gave us comp 1-park/1-day tickets...and yes, I wrote a sparkling letter to thank them!) and we bought 1 maxpass with that to do some photos, and it worked fine.

Even if it isn't a "ticket", but a cm main entrance pass? I have been wondering this myself as we plan a January DL trip with our WDW CM daughter.

No matter HOW you enter the park, whether you buy a ticket or are lucky enough to enter with a CM, you will be issued a paper park ticket at the entrance turnstile. Then once you have entered the park, you can buy Maxpass.

I did a 3 day 1 park visit to Disneyland in June and I didnt have Maxpass and I managed just fine. I was still able to get multiple Fastpasses throughout the day, the same as always.

Confirming from experience that yes, you can buy MP for any ticket, regardless of type of ticket.

My friend used her CM entrance tickets (free) and was able to add MP with zero issue.

As mentioned above, you'll be issued a paper ticket and you add this to the app. Then you can purchase MP.

I can confirm from experiences as well, CM's can use maxpass and so can guests of CMs, you just can't buy it ahead of time. MP is great & I used it for many cute pics and for ease of FP the whole time I was at Disney. Enjoy!

I won 2 year-old tickets at an auction and was able to use MaxPass with them.
