My kids and I need some free or cheap things to do in the Orlando area for two days while dad is at his conference. The kids are 8, 6 & 4. Any suggestions? We will have a car.

Thanks

Here is an idea for you & the kids

Drive to ( Fort ) Christmas on Hwy 50 heading for Titusville

Take the Hwy 417 & By Pass Orlando Airport & Take turn Off for CoCoa Beach ( Hwy 528 )

Look out for LEFT Turn for Hwy 520 go on that till you join Hwy 50 & Turn Right

Fort Christmas is a Replica of a Wooden Army Fort , There is a playground as well.

This should appeal to your children & also for them to see The Real Native Florida.

Then go back to Hwy 50 & turn Left towards Titusville & Stop at Midway Airboats

You MAY wish to have an hours trip on one of the best Airboat tours around.

Here is another Idea

You have a car ... So take a drive out to " The Showcase of Citrus "

This is a Organic U Pick Grove & Market for you to see Oranges & other Citrus fruit growing

You are allowed to " Pick your Own " fruit & pay by weight on fruit picked

You May wish to take yourselves on the " Big Wheeled Buggy " for a tour of the Citrus Groves

& Cattle Ranch

All this is at The Showcase of Citrus, 5010 Hwy 27 , Clermont, Florida 34714

showcaseofcitrus.com

To get there Go onto Hwy 192 West & then JOIN Hwy 27 NORTH heading towards Clermont

The Showcase of Citrus ... is about 11 miles from this junction and on your RIGHT side

Shortly after a community called Tradds landing .

Afterwards stay on Hwy 27 North & ON YOUR LEFT will be Lake Louisa State Park .

Have a good time.

When are you going to be in Orlando? If you're there in the summer I would drive to a beach. I would go east if you've never seen the ocean and west for nicer beaches. Clearwater Beach is about 2 hours away from Orlando.

Showcase of Citrus can be a good value if you purchase your admission via Groupon or Livingsocial (don't pay full price at the onsite store.....its great at discount, but expensive for what you get if paying full freight). Definitely fun for kids the OP's ages.

Groupon and Livingsocial offer lots of deeply discounted fun things to do. OP, I would check them both out. You will be able to pick up things like mini golf passes and other similar activities for a fraction of regular price. Those little things can be a ton of fun and not break the bank.
