Free the new taken??

I was just in a room and some girl goes up to a guy and asked if he was free. In her sig it said how she was free. So I'm guessing we will now see the word Free being used in place of Taken at times.

Free? Ew. Another one to listen to now. When my brother signed up for VMK I made his siggy say "Don't Do Taken!" and he still had people ask him. I want it to stop it's stupid.

Excuse me, but wouldn't free mean the opposite of taken? I have said I am a free spirit since the time vmk went public. This is nothing new. It could also have meant that person was an American celebrating being free, as yesterday was our Independence day. Lighten up, people. Ignore the small stuff and have fun with the game.

I think some of you are being ridiculously harsh on Princess Berry for her comment. She is as entitled to post her observations as the rest of you.

I think it is sad that somebody posts a general observation or even something good about VMK and the Dissers here will either rip that person apart, cut-them down for making a comment or the thread dies fast, HOWEVER, when somebody posts a big rant, complaint, or something they do not like in VMK, the post goes on for pages and days.

I think everybody should pay everybody else the same respect and regard they would like themselves. Each person who is a member of this board has the right to post their opinions and express their feelings about any and all things Disney/Disney related...or whatever the thread is about. Also remember that many of the people we are dealing with on VMK (and the sometimes the Disboards) are children whose parents are not parenting.

To answer your question directly, I have noticed this as well. My signature on VMK says, "Don't do that taken stuff!" I had a boy ask me if I was free, I said read my signature and he said, "I said are you free! lol"

I really wanted to say, well, okay, but my husband won't like it.

lol nice and yes berry princess has a right to her opinion. i agree that they can't take free away, but in my opinion free and taken are basically the same thing. unless you mean that your free for the day so you can play pirates till closing free shouldn't be taken seriously, because it is not as direct as being taken.yet being free is still not very good and really shouldn't be used in a kids game.

we have had several threads about postitive things with VMK, our members, and the DIS VMK Boards....case in point the RAOK thread.

I will agree that a lot of the time the negative outweighs the postitive but that is just human nature and this thread is somewhat a mini rant in itself and I also agree that all members have the right to post their feelings postitive or negative within DIS board guidelines.

What really annoys me, is the members who no longer post here for what ever reason and moan about how the boards are this way or another, when if they would post here they would help shape the way the board developes and grows.

Sorry for the mini hijack and rank inlaws weighing on my nerves I guess

The deadness of this thread was not exactly what I was referring to.

I just notice (in general) that the nit-picky "VMK did not release this, VMK did not make this tradeable, VMK host quest prize, blah" - seems to get a lot of band-wagoners and the horse gets beaten for a long time and the hair get split into many pieces, while positve stuff or general comments seem to be unimportant, or turned into something negative. Maybe in general, people just love to gripe and be negative and since I am generally not like that, it stands out to me.

I do not care if people agree with the taken/free comment Berry made, I just thought some of the remarks to her observation were snotty.

Agreed. I was pointing out that the direction of the board is lead by what the members post on the board....if one thinks that the board is taking on a negative direction why not start or post positive threads or posts

I don't see free as the same as taken. I am free, meaning I am NOT taken. Completely the opposite. I don't feel my response was "snotty" in any way, it was my opinion. If anyone doesn't like my opinion, they are "free" to ignore it. I was attacked for having a differing opinion than the original poster, and nothing more. Anytime someone opens something up for discussion, they should expect different sides and not take offense. I have a young friend who plays vmk. She has "free" in her signature for the reason I stated. She is proud to be an American and was letting people know she was glad to be free. You can't say American in vmk.

First, no where did I saw I wanted it taken out of the VMK dictionary people! Please don't put words in my mouth. And free obviously can mean many things but when a girl walks up to a boy and asks if he is free that is not the same as some of the other things said here. It is the same as taken. The game is not a virtual dating site and yet it is used that way left and right. So I'm sorry but my opinion is that stuff shouldn't be allowed period (and sorry but "special friend" is just another meaning of being taken or whatever it is called by some).
And as bytheblood said there is so much complaining/whining about the host pins, pins not tradeable, etc and it does end up coming off like the above. At times its very click like and if you say anything against then you are just bad. This is a reason I won't go to another Disney board and beginning to stop going to a collector board. I don't see it happen here alot but there are times it does. JMO While I agree we all have our own opinions on things and I don't expect people to always agree with mine, I expect others to be the same why. It just never seems to be that way with things here at times. If I was to go in and really say how I felt about how the complaining and whining being done in those other threads I would get a group of people telling me how wrong my opinion is. Again just my opinion of things I have seen here with this board at times. Not saying all the time but at times. I'm sorry but a couple of the posts did come off snotty sounding. Obviously that can happen on a board cause its hard to know how it is suppose to sound at times with people when you don't hear them. I always try to give the benefit of the doubt though since its not always meant that way but can be how its worded that is just why it might sound that way, kwim? Anyway, sorry I even brought this up. Just that I am a parent to kids and know that we don't know who is behind the other person playing. It could be kids the same age or around or some nut job hoping its a kid on the other one. We don't know. Anyway, if you want to close this thread go for it.
