What is the age range for this game?

Also, do you need to have the "portable giga pet" thing it describes on the commercial (you can watch commercial on the website). Does it come with one of the portable giga pets? Or do I need to buy something else?

The Hasbro site recommends it for ages 7+ and it does come with one portable pet, I think it's a hamster.

Can anyone tell me what a Ginga pet is?? I checked it out on their website but can't really understand it. Is it just a video game? Do I already have to have a pet to go in the game?!?!? Is this something a 5 or 2 y/o boy would like? thanks!

It's a little handheld digital pet, you play games with it and take care of it. The thing on their website plugs into the tv so you can play with it that way, but you don't have to have it on that base to play with it. It comes with a pet, I think a hamster, so everything you need for it is included in that (except batteries probably, lol). It says ages 7 and up, but my 5yo loves to play with my DD's tomagotchi (sp?) which is kind of like it.

I had already gotten my 9yo a serpent lizard giga pet that he asked for, but he asked for this, too and came up with the plan for his sister to get him the serpent lizard one and Santa could bring him this one and he could give the hamster to his 5yo brother. I didn't tell him it would happen, but it sounds like a good plan to me . This is a great deal, I wasn't going to get it for him, but I had to order a couple of gifts anyway so this works out.
