My friends are all going together (3 families) to WDW in April (during April Vacation mind you). My good friends bro-in-law is handling the DVC rental of a three bedroom villa. They are all arriving a day too early (Friday for a Saturday checkin), this guy has been boasting a puffing up his chest saying that he is going to handle everything. I was trying to help these friends in finding a quick little hotel around Disney springs so they can spend the night there and then go to Saratoga Springs the next day. This guy said to all the families that he will "handle it" and get three extra rooms "on Disney" for the Friday night before they actually relocate to their final Villa. I told my friends that this is so fishy and this dude probably doesn't know what he talking about and to be prepared to pay for those three rooms. Disney isn't a casino and will just comp a room to three families because they made the mistake of booking a flight a day too early.
Does anyone have an experience with Disney giving someone/you a free extra night at any Hotel never mind a DVC???

They need to book hotel rooms for the night. And maybe the nights afterward. I hope the BIL has the grand villa already booked because it's not going to pop up out of air. It really sounds pretty fishy to me.

Is this the same group who thinks someone can buy them all FL Resident tickets? This trip sounds like a disaster. I’d let my friend know I’m available to help with planning if they want — and then bow out of discussions unless explicitly asked for help. Sounds like they are going to do what they want and deal with it themselves.
Good luck!

Maybe I missed something, but I do not see where he said "free"? Now if he told them for free, then he is nuts:)

Nope they all think its free. Its crazy, I try not to say too much, I just dont want them to have all this uncertainty and stress for their vacation.

I think the free is where he says "on Disney". Although, I wonder if "on Disney" means on Disney property?
That's how I interpreted it. I hope we hear the out come of this.

So it may be the family who is not understanding correctly. Because like I mentioned above, to me, I think he is meaning on Disney property, which would make a lot more sense than free. Tell the family you would like to show them how to use MDE online and need the reservation # to link to it. This way you could at least find out if he has the villa reserved:tiptoe:

Yeah he must mean stay on site. If he mean free he might even find it hard to book any where near disney in April. You have school break into Easter and then star wars run weekend.

No, WDW does not comp rooms. Maybe he meant "on site" and the rest of the party misinterpreted his meaning? Are they driving or flying in? If they are flying in and don't have a WDW resort reservation that starts that day, they will not be able to utilize Magical Express.

Okay, I read your post again after reading the responses, and my hair stood up. I have no idea what this guy may or may not have reserved in regards to the villa, but if he says he "will get three rooms on Disney" all I can picture is a manufactured argument at checkin with that guy insisting that Disney screwed up, and a poor CM trying to figure out what happened.
If I was to give any advice to your friend, I would suggest that she get all of the reservation confirmations in writing. I woudl also suggest that rather than accept the premise the rooms will be in place, she insist on specifics. In my experience, everytime a person insists its all set and does not offer the specific information regarding cost, confirmations and plans in place there is going to be some sort of disaster.

Not happening on so many levels no matter how you read it - and if he didn't book the grand villa at exactly 11 months out, he doesn't have it. Also getting an extra night on property this close to April break - that will be difficult if not impossible if its not already booked. I've been watching 3 nights in April that I have DVC waitlisted & there has been no availability at all for weeks. I feel bad, these people are expecting a grand vacation & might be walking into a grand disaster!

If your friends are flying in, they won't be able to access DME without a reservation for Friday as well.

Goodness. This dude sounds like a real piece of work!
If your friends insist on blindly following him, though, there's really nothing you can do.

Saratoga GVs for spring are often available at 7 months. But this whole thing sounds like a dumpster fire.

Good grief! I'm assuming this is the same group of people you posted about a bit ago regarding their lack of planning? I was going to say this last bit makes it sound like a proper train wreck, but I think @_auroraborealis_ is right and this sounds more like a dumpster fire.

The problem is, these people seem to like the pretty flames.

I agree these people need help. But it doesn't sound like they want it. Some people just have to learn the hard way. The good news is there's almost always a room to be had in DS, even if it's very last minute. True, the selection will be smaller, and the prices probably higher than if they booked something now, but they won't spend the night on the street.

I'm still hoping we're getting a game of telephone here, and by "on Disney" the DVC member could have meant on property and the newbie misunderstood as at Disney's expense. But if the DVC member thinks there are complimentary rooms coming their way, they're in for a rude awakening.

That, however, is not your problem. At this point, let them know that you're here for them if they find they need to troubleshoot something, but then back away. You've done your part, and they're adults. I know you don't want to see them have a bad trip, but if they're determined to do it their way, it's best to let them. Either it will work out against the odds, or it won't work out and your conscience will be clear. Or they'll realize there's a problem, and they'll finally ask you for help. Sometimes you just have to let people make their own mistakes.

Someone should know something's up when going to make ADRs and/or FP+ before the trip - unless the "handling everything" also means everyone's ADRs and FP+.
