Free Room Upgrades?

Never have I ever been upgraded. Maybe because my trips are longer (8-14 nights). Member for 16 years. We were there in March 2021 for 13 nights Bwv 1 BR, April/May for 10 nights Bwv studio and leave next week for another trip 9 nights (Bwv 2 bedroom).

Oh man , I’m jealous ! How many points do you have if you don’t mind me asking ? We started off with 150, I’m already planning my add on purchase

^^^As far as accessible rooms go, did that type of room have any annoyances given you did not need those features? Some how my account got tagged as needing handicap accessible rooms and it really put a damper on 2 stays before I had it resolved. At Poly I want to say there was a tub where the glass waterfall shower stall should be and a roll in shower in the bath closest to the entry. I could be wrong about the setup but I do remember water getting EVERYWHERE when we used the handicap accessible shower. We did not change rooms because it was ground floor which we really enjoy.

As far as I could tell there was really no difference in the Hearing Accessible\Visual Alarm room vs a standard 2 Bedroom Villa.

We had a one-night cash studio booked at Riviera for our last night. We got to the resort at 2:30pm and waited til 4 before asking for an ETA on our room. They came over a few minutes later and gave us a one bedroom!

We’ve never gotten a room upgrade before. We speculated they were overbooked and they wanted to convince us to buy Riviera points. It was gorgeous and spacious! And quite nice on our feet to only walk a few doors to the elevator after 5 nights at Kidani in a Pembe Savannah (which we did use our points for).

We got an amazing upgrade for one night as well. We were booked for a studio at BCV for one night at the end of our trip for a pool day after our AP expired. For the BCV 1 night stay we were upgraded from a studio to a 2 bedroom! It was wonderful and very spacious! I’ve never stayed in a two bedroom before, but maybe this was a good plan on Disney’s part, because now I want to end every disney trip this way. It was perfect for our lazy no park day.

We didn’t get our room ready text till almost exactly 4pm, so maybe they couldn’t get any studios ready on time? Also the 2 BR was a dedicated wheelchair accessible room.

Earlier in the week we were at BWV for 4 nights in a studio and then BLT for 2 nights in a studio.

Using our points we booked one night in a studio at SSR and we were upgraded to a 1BR. We were totally surprised because we’ve never had that happen in all our time as DVC members.

We got upgraded for one night from standard to preferred! Our last night was in a SV room at Riviera, they upgraded it to a PV

I have been a dvc member for 21 years and only one time did I get a upgrade. This was during covid. Beginning of December I had a 2 bedroom standard view at animal kingdom. Got upgraded to a safari view or whatever the view is called.

I think if it is a shorter stay you are more likely to get an upgrade.

We were upgraded last October from a standard studio at SSR to a preferred 2 bedroom. We were there for 7 nights. It was our first time staying DVC and a huge surprise. But, it was also when the resorts had a lot of availability due to Covid and we think empty rooms likely played into the upgrade.

We've been upgraded from a studio to a 1 bedroom twice since Covid. Both were 1 night stays. We thought we might be on some sort of list since we sold our original, much larger contract and now just have our small contract, that they were trying to get us to buy more points.

Congratulations. A few years ago we were upgraded from a 2 bedroom standard view to a 2 bedroom lake view on the 6th floor for a 6 night stay.
