Am I the only person that kept the free QSDP at a value resort? I love the quick service plan. Thinking about ADR's gives me a headache. Is there anyone else out there excited about getting the free quick service dinning plan?

We are staying at CBR so the dining plan is the regular one but yeah I'd prefer the QS plan. I have no desire for more than a couple table service restaurants.

We are!! We have gone with free table service dining several times, and find that we are not all that excited about the sit down meals overall. Plus, we are tired of having to schedule EVERYTHING and this allows us to have some semblance of spontaneity and whim to our trip. We can eat when we are hungry, rather than what time we made a reservation for (6 months earlier!!). There are many great options for QS in the parks and the resorts and we plan to explore them all! Plus, we figured out that with tips, we'd usually pay out an additional $200-$250 per trip, so that is even more savings for the QS plan.

Enjoy!

We kept QS too for many of the same reasons. We usually only do 1-3 TS meals as we don't like to have our time so scheduled and prefer to have flexibility with our meal times. We are planning to pay OOP for a CP lunch (our family tradition) and 1900 Park Fare (my dad hasn't tried this one yet and really wants to). It's cheaper for us to pay OOP for these 2 meals than to upgrade the DP. Plus we still keep our flexibility and don't have to add more TS meals. We are also planning to schedule a BOG quick service and hope the rumors of the new Skipper's Cantina might be true that they will also have a QS lunch (possibly scheduled with ADRs). That will be plenty of ADRs for us!!!

We are thrilled with the QS plan as we have many favorites including Columbia Harbor House, Flame Tree BBQ, Yak and Yeti Local Foods, and all of the QS World Showcase options! I really do think it's the perfect plan for us and still can't believe that we are getting it for free! :thumbsup2

I love the QS plan because we can usually share at some meals and then we have plenty of credits for breakfast too. We generally do one character meal OOP, but we have no desire to do a sit-down meal every day.

We love it. We do the WP&F option so going to a TS meal just gets to be a hassle. We are there for 17 days. Two nights on a RO. We plan to do T-Rex, CP breakfast and Hollywood and vine Lunch. I may even do Sci-if on night. We figure now that dd is consider a adult we would be spending around 30-40 in tips even on the low side that is addrional 400-500 in tips.

We were just having the conversation to maybe upgrade to a moderate this am. Dh said to let the girls do pirates league and we booed the frozen oreuim package again. Plus we are weird and have stayed at all levels and actually really like pop century.

We hate ADRs. We go every year, and only do one ADR max, if any. We'd rather spend time riding than eating. We eat out at home a lot, though, so longer sit down meals on vacation are just a waste of time to us. Lol

We are keeping the QSDP! We are staying 12 nights so upgrading would cost 481.00, plus we would lose 12 QS meals each. We have 2 adults and 1 child. We can book several TS meals during out trip, and still not spend 481.00, so to me it makes no sense to upgrase. 12 TS credits is too much for me, with already scheduling fp every day a meal to make it to everyday seems like too much.

Even for sit downs it is nice to not HAVE to get an entree, drink and dessert each. Sometimes I just want water, or for example, my son loves T-Rex, and I get the quesedilla as my meal, which is listed as an app. Also less extra money spent on tips. Tips on 12 TS meals would add up quickly.

We plan to eat at Beaches and Cream, The Plaza, Sci Fi and T-rex at my sons request. Each of these we will not each order desserts, we will split as they are HUGE, also some apps not entrees, this lowers our cost well over the DDP upgrade.

We're keeping ours! I didn't want table service. We're only there 3 nights this time and 2 days in the park. I don't want to waste so much time on planning out reservations. I'd rather be more spontaneous and enjoy it a little more this time. :) Plus we plan on sharing some meals to stretch our meal credits for more days. ;)

I was crunching the numbers to see if free dining would even be a viable option for us and came to the conclusion that keeping the QSDP would be a better option for us. We're not planning a trip until 2017, but I was doing a couple of "what if" scenarios and priced free dining at Pop for the first 10 days in September. The difference in cost between the QSDP and upgrading to the regular DP for us is $483 for two adults, including the estimated gratuities for the TS meals. Since I've tracked every expense for our trips over the last 10 years, I know that for our last trip we averaged $32 per person at TS restaurants. So, for the $483 we saved by keeping the QSDP, we could pay OOP for 8 TS meals and end up breaking even. Keeping the QSDP would give us 20 CS, 10 snacks and 8 TS meals (paid OOP). Upgrading to the regular DP gives us 10 CS, 10 TS, and 10 snacks. Seems like the thing to do is keep the QSDP, at least for us.

For us to just upgrade the dining plan it is 850.00 plus 400-500 for tips. My oldest will be 10 so she counts as a adult now. The 2 TS meals should run as around 225.00 with tip. T-Rex I have to pay to eat that day anyway. Even if we add a 3rd ADR whichnImson't think we will do since we booked the frozen package again. Need to save room for deserts.

That's a lot of money. By paying OOP for those TS meals you're not locked into using all credits that you would have if you upgraded. Also, it gives you an option to share meals, which we do on occasion to save room for desserts.

I'm keeping mine as the QSDP! Honestly I'm even wondering if that will be too much food for us. We're Australian and aren't used to the huge portion sizes that are standard in the US. If we were paying OOP for everything I'd probably end up eating mostly kids meals tbh.

We kept the QSDP every time that we booked FD at a Value. We found that the cost to upgrade to the regular DDP was equal to the cost to upgrade to a Moderate, so we just book Moderate if we want free DDP. Those Value Resort trips took place when we had other priorities for our money. Rather spend my Disney dollars for extra days in WDW than on better food.

Disney portion sizes are large, even for America. My wife and I split a whole lot of meals in WDW.

We love the QSDP and had planned on keeping it when we got it. I wanted to stay at the values and get the free QS so I could have my extra cash go towards the F&W events. We are going in Oct/Nov for 10 days and will be at F&W for a lot of our "meals" trying to fill our passports! We did make 4 ADR's for the trip to hit a few of our favs, but like others have said, the down side to TS are the tips.

We are also keeping the Quick Service Dining plan and are excited about it! We typically only do 1 or 2 TS meals for the entire trip. We have found the QS plan has more than enough food for us each day.

Same here we are there 14 nights well technically 17. Doing a RO for 2 nights before our FD package starts. But my cost of upgrading is twice your since older dd will just be turning 10 a couple of days before we get there. We have done the QSDP the past 4 years and prefer it. We go the WP quite a bit and to have to go back to get changed and go out to eat hold zero appeal to me. We have done the regular dining plan but prefer the freedom of the QSDP.

I'm totally excited about QS dining. Most of our favorite restaurants are QS and its saving us lots of money. We probably won't do any TS meals at all. I hate the way Disney's QS food is compared to fast food. We've always found places like Pecos Bills and Sunshine Seasons to be filling and delicious. Not to mention all the choices in World Showcase.
