Free magic bands shipped 12/31! Anyone else?

I was shocked yesterday to wake up to an email that my magic bands for my September 2021 trip had shipped!

I did not select any bands at all for that trip, thinking they would not happen...so definitely not upgraded ones. I guess they will be the plain grey ones.

Did this happen to anyone else? CRAZY!

Sounds like a glitch. I have a stay arriving April 19, it says I had 75 days left to order. Check My Disney Experience.

It may be a glitch... but I have a tracking number. And my Disney Experience shows they were shipped too...though I guess at some point I did choose a color because mine is pink and my husband's is grey.

Someone said in another thread that stays booked before the announcement of free bands being discontinued are grandfathered in? I wonder if that is my situation. And if they are just trying to wrap up all those cases with the start of the new year.

Someone said in another thread that stays booked before the announcement of free bands being discontinued are grandfathered in? I wonder if that is my situation. And if they are just trying to wrap up all those cases with the start of the new year.

If you picked band colors, I think they do go out right away.

i believe that’s only with upgraded ones not free ones. Plus I haven’t touched that reservation for months... if I picked that pink band it was back in August.

Looking at your past postings, I see you also have a January 21 resort stay coming up. Those bands could be for that stay and the system glitched to say it’s for the September trip. It’s just way too far in advance to ship out September bands. Otherwise the Disney IT system confused your reservations and thinks the September trip is the January trip.

nope I already got those bands! Then cancelled the trip sadly because of the mandatory quarantine my husbands work has here in CA. The September trip is the only one we still have a hope of taking right now.

Yes I believe it was back in June for the cutoff. If you booked the trip before that then you still get the complimentary bands.

Our stay is in May (booked in June) and I selected the 'standard' bands for both of us back in November. Ours haven't shipped yet. They're showing as "Your MagicBand order has been received" on MDE and that I have until April to 'make changes'. There's been no change to our balance due so I assume that means we aren't being charged for them (yet). I'm afraid to go 'poking around' on MDE for fear of accidentally cancelling them or 'waking a sleeping dog' and I end up getting charged for them.

Yours could still be a glitch, but a 'good glitch'. I wouldn't call Disney if I were you, but just keep checking the tracking number and see if they actually ship out. I'm assuming they're in the 'shipping label printed, awaiting pick up' stage?

Yes I believe it was back in June for the cutoff. If you booked the trip before that then you still get the complimentary bands.

I'd heard this as a rumor, but never heard it was actually confirmed by Disney.
