Looks like Frontier Airlines is branching into small Northeast airports with flights to Orlando. They currently fly out of Trenton, NJ and will soon be flyng out of Wilmington, DE as well.
We used them from Greensboro to Orlando in march and were happy. The service was decent and the prices were awesome. Some friends of ours used them from Staunton VA to Orlando around the same time for the same great rates and were happy with them too. I went online a couple weeks ago to see their fall rates and both routes have been canceled.
I'm just over an hour from there and added this on my places i can fly out of. I have taken spirit out of the mix based on thier policies. Frontiers seems a bit better in regards to fees and what not
We flew them out of Allentown. They were great. They have since pulled out of that airport. My undertanding is that these small airports pay Frontier to fly out of them and hope that enough people use frontier that they will choose to stay when the subsidy ends.
Frontier has TVs in the seats. Which cost $6 per leg ($4 if you 3 or more on one card)
They have 3 classes of tickets. Economy does not include free checked bags or free TV. The next level up (called Classic) costs about $24 more and includes 2 free checked bags and free TV. Not sure about the highest level...
When I booked it I did 1 Classic ticket and 3 Economy (so I had free checked bags for a reasonable price)
All classes can pick seats for free. But the Classic ones have better pick of the litter...
The fee for checked bags was only $20 which is cheaper than most other airlines we've used. I was really disappointed they pulled out of the two airports that we could have used.
