Free Internet to start May 4th.

As per the DVC member site:

"Daily Internet charge to be discontinued effective May 4, 2008
Based on Member feedback, the daily charge for wired high-speed Internet access for Members staying at Disney Vacation Club Resorts at the Walt Disney World® Resort will be discontinued effective May 4, 2008. Guests renting Disney Vacation Club accommodations will continue to pay the daily rate for access, and high-speed Internet access charges still apply to Members staying at non-Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

In related news, plans call for wireless service debut inside vacation homes at Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort sometime this year. Look for updates on this Web site as new details become available. "

I'm sure it will be free for anyone paying for their stay with points (owners, renters and owners' guests).

Cash guests (who book directly through CRO or WDWTC) will still pay the daily charge even if they are staying at a DVC resort.

That is awesome!! We arrive on the 3rd, so I guess my husband can work from our room for free. His company just saved a few bucks.

My DH will be so happy. He is staying home with our 2 other kids while I take dd3 on a mommy/daughter trip to wdw in mid-May. Now I can send home pics daily while we are there so he won't miss her too much!

I also leave about a week before. But....so what?? Assuming we're all dvc members here, we'll all be back more times than we can count so if we miss it this time we'll still get it many times in the future

We're heading down on May 9th and will be checking in at BCV on the 12th. Perfect timing for us!

Now I'll be able to upload my pics to an online photo processing website while we're there and not risk losing them again (left my camera on the plane home from Hawaii last Oct and lost all 900 of my photos ). I'm so happy to hear this news. Thank you DVC!

Can you tell a little bit more about how this works? I have an iPhone I want to be able to connect with, but it only has WiFi. Is it as simple as just plugging in or does it require any configuration? What happens if the connection requires passwords, etc.?

This is great news. Wireless would be great. I know that the Apple Airport is not expensive. How difficult is it to secure the connection? How easy is it to set up?

Oh well. My daily trip reports were fun while they lasted. We check in to SSR tomorrow and leave April 27. I guess that means I won't get free internet until I return to Marriott next Sunday night.

I'm not happy. Disney has been dragging their feet about this so long it's ridiculous.
