Free Internet at AKV!

We checked into AKV on 4/10 and connected that night to the internet via the Disney portal we are familiar with from previous trips. The next day, my dh could not get connected at all and made multiple phone calls to tech services before being told that his computer was "not compatible with their network" despite having been perfectly compatible on previous trips and the night before.

Being the stubborn man that he is :), he tried connecting the next day, 4/12, and immediately noticed that the portal is now a Cisco portal rather than the previous Disney one and that the speed was much faster. We wondered if this was part of the "spring enhancements" that we were told were coming and if that would affect our billing.

Well, the good news is that this morning we got our checkout bill and there is NO CHARGE for the internet except for the first day when we were using the Disney portal. We are planning to fight that too since tech services told us we wouldn't have to pay for that one day since we were unable to use it for the majority of the 24 hour period.

Anyway, it seems that there is free internet at AKV at this point but I don't know about the other resorts. Also, as an FYI, the portal does make you agree to a fee like before but we figured that was because it is the same portal that all guests will use and since everyone else will pay it needs to be disclosed.
 
WOO-HOO! Hope more people check in from other resorts with the same result!
 
I hope it true cuz my DH is really looking forward to using the internet while there.
 

Whoaa!!! Hold on. I am paying for it at AKV as we speak. I will of course ask, but we checked in on the 11th and don't leave until the 20th so I will be down there asking soon. I didn't have to talk to any tech people to connect so maybe I just need to go open my big mouth, but as of this moment I have paid for three days of this so I can get my DIS fix!:woohoo:
 
There have been various reports of some people not paying. I think that it is just a mistake. We spoke to Tech Support, Resort Management and MS last week when we were there and they all said that maybe towards the end of June we would be free. They made it clear that the room signage and your check in info will change when it happens.
