I thought the budget minded on this forum might be interested in this:

To celebrate the publication of the sixth edition of Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickeys: A Field Guide To Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets, they're giving a way a PDF of the Downtown Disney scavenger hunt.

Here's the link: http://intrepidtraveler.com/hm6-excerpt/

Since the hunt is in Downtown Disney, no admission is involved.

Barrett's recorded over 1,200 hidden Mickeys in the new edition, including a bunch in New Fantasyland.

Wow ValpoCory. Just because YOU aren't interested doesn't mean everyone isn't.

This is a BUDGET board and for many, visiting DTD is a wonderful inexpensive option because there is no admission fee. And better yet, if you are trying to avoid shopping too much, having a scavenger hunt to keep things fun is wonderful.

I'm happy for you that you are so wealthy and busy that this isn't important to you, but it may be for others.

Thanks to the OP... this sounds like fun to my family. My 16-year-old loves scavenger hunts :)

Who does Downtown Disney Hidden Mickey Scavenger Hunts? I've been to WDW for 22 days over 3 trips in the last 6 years, and I've never once even been to DTD in those trips, let alone be so bored when I get there that I resort to a Hidden Mickey game to pass the time.

Maybe it's just me, but when I am at WDW, I don't find myself twiddling my thumbs, needing ideas for stuff to do.

We enjoy finding Hidden Mickeys, don't get me wrong, but unless I was a local who got to visit many times per year, I don't think I'd resort to actually doing this.

Maybe when my kids are older, I'll get it.

I really don't see why you felt the need to be snarky. If you don't want to do it, don't.

You must be bored to use your time responsing to threads that don't appeal to you. Perhaps you just wanted to brag about the of trips you have made? Regardless your post was less than helpful.

We have 26 days on 4 trips in the last 4 years and have been to DTD on every one of those trips

That sounds fun. We always start our Disney vacation at DTD but my husband hates shopping. Maybe this will be time better spent and open our vacation with a new twist. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the PPs in using the rule my mom ways told us, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

We arrive 2 days prior to our package beginning. We plan on spending an evening at DTD and will definitely do this. Absolutely a great free way to do something "Disney" before we set foot in the Parks...Thanks for posting!

We love DTD too! We like to visit the art store and the huge Disney Store and we like to have lunch at Earl of Sandwich. We usually go every time we visit. We've been 126 days in 15 years and have visited at least once every trip. BBB and Legos and McD's were hits with DD in the younger years.

Sounds like a great way to keep the men folk busy with the kids while I get to shop! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. We are headed to DTD the day we arrive and love to do stuff like this.

Has anyone bought the book things to do in line? Just wondering if it is worth the $$ or if it is all common sense stuff. My dd especially loves trivia and to have a book to give specifics would be fun.

Thanks for the link. We have a group of 14 going next month and we plan to hit DTD a couple of times for dining and shopping. The non-shoppers will no doubt enjoy the scavenger hunt!

We generally do DTD the first night when we arrive or the last day before we leave, I can't wait to try this!

I clicked on the link and subscribed. I got an email to confirm my address and accepted, but have not yet gotten the info. Am I missing something?
