Thinking of trying golf on our next trip. I thought I read somewhere that we are eligible for free golf and club rentals as a perk. We have PAP and are DVC members.
Thanks

Yes at Oak Trail GC. We are both DVC and PAP as well. I just booked my DH a tee time for Sept but had to do it through DVC discount ($20 and his dad the same price even though he isn't dvc) link because PAP wasn't available yet. You just need to put a cc for holding and will be processed when you check in at club house.

I don't know if they still do this, but when I golfed at Oak Trail, Disney provided transportation to and from the gold course via taxi. I believe that I contacted bell services to make the arrangements. Just figured I'd mention it :)

I'm going to assume they still do this. But that's only because I know that they've offered this free service for at least 10 years, and it would seem that if they stopped it, we'd hear some outcry on the boards!

Currently at WDW, played 2 rounds of Golf. Free taxi transport to and from your resort is still provided.

Taxi service provided between WDW resort and course. "Free golf" if you have PAP and that is only for the Oak Trail, nine hole, walking course. DVC member can play there for $20. Neither the PAP nor DVC discounts inlcude rental clubs ($15 at Oak Trail), pull cart ($6), or range balls ($7).

At the other three 18-hole courses (Lake Buena Vista, Magnolia and Palm), the AP (and PAP) and DVC discounts are the same, usually in the 25% to 35% range off of the rate usually paid by WDW resort guests in general, and the amount you pay changes when seasons change. Those also do not include clubs ($20 for resort guests) or range balls. Resort guests who pay the full resort guest fee for golf do get free clubs and range balls. Thus if you are going to play and need both clubs and range balls, you need to do the math to assure you are not paying more in total with the discounted DVC or AP price than you would with the resort guest price.

Thank you for the clarification. Since I booked my DH under DVC discount of $20 and had to put a cc to reserve tee time but won't be paid for until he shows up at the gc. As a PAP can he get the free golf when he shows up even though he was booked under DVC. All in all we are both so he should be entitled to it, right?

I don't know whether they will give him the free PAP round if he shows up with a DVC reservation. PAP (and AP) reservations can be made beginning only two weeks out while others like DVC can be made much longer out so they might not allow the switch. To be safe I would probably make the change at two weeks out (if you call to do it, they may just leave the same reservation and change it to a PAP). Note it is usually fairly easy to get times around what you want even at two weeks out if you are playing a weekday; more of a risk of more times being filled earlier if a Saturday or Sunday. Note that if he is single, then it is particularly easy to get a time because they favor foursomes and they match singles to any group that is less than a foursome until it is a foursome.

We have always called morning of, for a morning tee time at Oak Trail...even while offsite. We have PAP and take our own clubs. As a beginner, I did very well at that course. DH is a regular golfer and he always calls day of for most of his tee times at the other courses as well since he is a single (I am not that good that I would pay for a round in Disney).

That reminds me-for anyone here wondering about how tough/easy Oak Trail is. DS played his first ever round of golf there at age 9 with DH who had a Handicap of 2. Both of them, 2 golfer ability extremes, had a great time golfing there.
