Free Disney ticket on birthday ongoing?

Hi,

I just got a thrilling idea to take my DS down for his 8th birthday...next December! That's right, he just turned 7...

Anyway, DH is at least open to me taking DS for a 3-night trip while he stays home with DD. We would just do 1 day at a Disney park and one day at Sea World (we will have free passes to the Busch parks next year.) I would let DS choose which park but I'm pretty sure he would go for MK.

So, is the "free ticket on your birthday" deal still going on? It would sure help! I would just get a 1-day ticket for myself, hotel, airfare, and food. It'll still be a heckuva pricey weekend, but what fun!

I'm also debating whether to stay onsite which I have never done. I will definitely rent a car either way. Any input would be most appreciated.

Disney's offical web site is sayingthat the deal expires 12-31-09. I don't know if they are going to continue it or not.

Their new promotion is the give a day, get a day. If you do certain volunteer projects (using their specified projects and coordinators), you can get a one day ticket. I think they allow everyone 6 and up to volunteer. Each volunteer earns a one day base ticket. So, in theory, you and your son could do a volunteer day together to earn your tickets and not have to pay anything for a one day ticket.
