Free Disney Gift Card

Does anybody know how you get the free Disney Gift Card for booking through WDWTC these days? When we went last time it was sent in the pack but I remember reading on here some time back that people had to collect them from Downtown Disney. If that's the case do you need a voucher?

I realised earlier that we haven't had anything through the post yet and we depart next Wednesday (although don't go to Disney until Friday)!

We were sent a voucher in our "Walt Disney travel Company" pack (Mickey Mail) along with magical express voucher. We had to take the voucher to the World of Disney Store in DTD to change it to a gift card. I would give them a ring if you haven't received anything yet. It might be that you get it at check in.

Thanks for the quick response! I just looked at the confirmation email and it said that the paperwork should be sent out 2 weeks before (which is kind of what I remember from before) - not sure how I missed the fact that nothing has come through yet! Will have to call them tomorrow and hopefully be able to sort it before we leave next week.

As others have pointed out, the voucher comes attached to a letter you'll receive approx 2 weeks before your trip.
You then take the voucher to the customer service desk in the World of Disney store to claim it.

Be sure to take the voucher AND additional ID as you'll need both to claim it.
(Last year we were behind 2 people in the queue to collect ours and one didn't have the voucher, the other no ID!)

As the posters above have said, your voucher will arriver a couple of weeks before you go.
Take the voucher along with your ID to the customer services desk in the World Of Disney store at DTD, the desk is located in the room where they have the watches & hand bags.

Also don't rush to go to DTD to collect it before you need to if you are relying on it to spend. Remember you can now charge Disney purchases to your Magic Band and go and pay it off later at the front desk where you can use your gift card. I didn't collect mine until five days into the last trip and used it to pay off our TS tips which I had 'paid' for using my Magic Band.

Thanks for all the responses, part of my problem is that we fly next Wednesday so was running out of time for it to come through the post (not really sure how I missed the fact that it hadn't arrived previously)!

Called Disney today and the person I spoke to said it really shouldn't be an issue and that there wasn't anything important in the pack anyway (which she said was sent on 18th March so not sure what's happened to it). Fortunately I had already had an email with one of these responses on saying you need a voucher so she said they would email that to me and arrange for a new pack to be at reception when we check in. The email has arrived with a voucher type thing at the bottom so all is good.

Thanks also for the tips about what to do with the gift card, hadn't considered charging things to the Magic Band - can you do that at drinks and snack carts too? We're not sure whether to use the card for the extra bits not covered by the DDP or on the Fantasy the following week. Decisions Decisions!

You can use your Magic Band as cash anywhere on Disney property so long as you link it to a credit card and get a PIN number assigned to it
