Are DVC members ever offered one of the free dining packages? We are not members, butI am considering trying to rent some points to get into WLV, but not if we would not be able to take advantage of that offer.

No free dining with a points rental. Not ever.

DVC owners' points stays are discounted from regular prices.

If DVC owners want "free dining" they can book that by paying nondiscounted cash prices for accommodations just like anyone else.

No, DVC never got free dining. If you want that you need to pay list price through Disney and typically buy a multiday pass package.

If you purchase an AP you are eligible to buy TIW which gets you 20% of at a lot of restaurants.

Nope, no free dining. That's a promotion that Disney offers to try to fill room inventory that they own. When you rent from a DVC member, you're paying for the use of member-owned room inventory.

No problem! W were planning on getting TIW next week- do we now need and AP for that?

Oh no, since your a DVC member pre 4/2016 you qualify. We are post 4/2016 resale owners so we are buying AP platinum and then buying TIW, but only because we have 2 trips planned under a year.

And for OP:

When you rent points, your transaction is solely with the DVC member; Disney is not involved.

When you own DVC, you have already committed to a booking, so Disney need not provide further discount to get a body in a room on your points, in some way.

One thing to look at is the rack rate of a DVC room to get free dining. Studios start around $500 a night. Plus a minimum 2 day ticket, either park hopper or water park addon. That will get you free dining. I'll stick with points.

Do you have any confirmation on the post-4/4 members being disqualified for TiW? I really doubt they're going to enforce any sort of restriction on that. TiW is not a "member extra" discount.

Don't you have to have a member card to buy the TIW if you aren't an AP holder? If so then members after the April change won't be able to buy it.

Apparently their is a restricted white member card and a blue non-restricted member card. Like usual DVC hasn't really told us about the different cards and if TIW is restricted or not.
