I have seen a few comments regarding Free Dining ???

Is there such a thing, if so what is it and how do I get it???

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I figured someone in the group could update me on this.

Thanks

Reservations on points and member cash are not eligible for free dining. It is a promotion to fill cash rooms at full rack rate.

"Free" dining is not available to DVC Members staying on points.

It is only available to cash Guests who buy a package, paying full rack rate for their rooms, staying a minimum number of days, during the least popular time of year, and buying admission tickets through Disney.

As you can see, it's not really free. :thumbsup2

you can't get it thru DVC

only by paying the rack price for a WDW resorts and buying tickets.

now lately some people have reported 30% off WDW resorts and still managed to get free dinning.

it is only offer last week of August until last week of Sept

There is "free Dining" at DVC. Just go to the "fixin's bar" and load up on lettuce, tomato, onion, pour on some honey mustard sauce and enjoy your free salad ;)

That would be a seriously bad idea, and would get you kicked out.

In sincerity, WDW for the first time ever has/had extended free dining into parts of this October, November and December. To me this means that WDW acknologes that they are currently overcharging the genreal public for Park admission and dining plans because they are no longer selling enough of them since the last park rate increases. Makes me wonder if any additional discounts will filter to DVC...

To me it means that cash bookings are down and Disney is trying to fill rooms. DVC doesn't have that problem so our perks aren't designed to increase bookings.

Yes, by definition our DVC bookings will never be down.
It may be possible, though, that members could stop spending money at WDW while using their bookings. In that case the parks and dining groups would want to offer us more discounts to spend more on park tickets and dining. (Hey, what can we do to get these DVC members already here to spend more of their $) That's all the perks are, ways to get us to spend more $. (Although I have not yet figured out the free Internet, it could either save telco costs of dial-up or possibly the greater future use of the online ADR system because we are spending too much time calling dining CMs??)
