We have never been able to take advantage of the free dining, but were hoping to this year. I called and asked if we made a reservation now and free dining became available, would we be eligible for it. She replied that the general public was no longer entitled to it, that they only did resort bounceback offers. Is this true?

Nothing has been announced for 2008 (other than bounce back) so CM's would have no way of knowing if you'd qualify in 2008 or not. At this time, with nothing announced, it's safest for them to say there is nothing available (and avoid public backlash)

Free dining is generally announced for the general public in April. Disney Visa cardholders can book a few days before the general public can.

We were just there and left Jan 5th. I did call ext 8844 before leaving and ask if they knew free dining would be offered and they said they did not have any info on this yet. The cm said you never know what Disney might offer. I hope they offer it, because we have never been during free dining, but this time we are taking our children out of school for a week. 3 kids and 2 adults, which my kids are 13, twins 11 so we have to pay adult prices and this would save us $$1400 that alot. So lets all hope and pray for free dining.:dance3:

Since the dining plan no longer includes appetizer and tip, I am hoping this will increase the chance of Disney offering free dining.

Free dining would still be a GREAT deal. I wouldn't mind paying $15 - $20 for the tableservice tip per day.
Keeping my fingers crossed.
